Job Description

This position will play a central role in advancing FIA's regulatory agenda in Indonesia and supporting ASEAN regional alignment effort. He/She will act as FIA's key point of contact on food regulatory matters in Indonesia, responsible for monitoring and analysing regulatory developments, coordinating engagement with Indonesian authorities, ASEAN Secretariats and supporting FIA members on regulatory issues.

Regionally, the position will lead FIA's participation in ASEAN regulatory coordination platforms including ASEAN Food & Beverage Alliance (AFBA), ensuring FIA's position and inputs are aligned and effectively represented.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Monitoring & Analysis

  • Monitor national legislative activities and analyse industry trends to identify potential impacts on the food industry. This includes reviewing changes in food standards, labelling requirements, import/export regulations, and other relevant topics, as well as assessing the potential effects of proposed regulations and policies on association members and consumers.
  • Assess potential implications of propose regulatory changes, including identifying emerging regulatory risks and trends in the food industry, evaluating their potential impact and provide support in the development of proactive strategies to mitigate risks and address compliance challenges through stakeholder collaboration and advocacy efforts.

Communication and Reporting

  • Communicate above findings/intel in a timely manner to the internal FIA team and to be actively involved in the development of FIA Intelligence resources (weekly updates, monthly insights, bimonthly heatmap) for our association members.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop coordinated messaging and dissemination of critical information, supporting advocacy strategies to regulatory/policy developments.

Engagement & Advocacy

  • Identify areas of alignment or divergence between proposed regulation/policies and industry interests and provide recommendations for advocacy outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in the regulatory and policymaking arena, seeking opportunities for constructive dialogue and collaboration to shape regulatory outcomes.
  • Engage with local government officials, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to provide input on proposed regulations, participate in public hearings and consultations, and advocate for policies that support the interests of the food industry.

Qualification & Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or other related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in regulatory affairs function, preferably within the food industry, government or industry association.
  • Solid and demonstrable understanding of Indonesia food regulations, Halal and regulatory structures, with exposure to ASEAN regulatory cooperation preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging regulatory authorities or industry stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with ability to translate technical issues into clear insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with multi-national stakeholders.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating with regional team.
  • Willingness to travel within Indonesia and regionally as required.
