About the Opportunity
We are partnering with an established international construction company to appoint a Regional Finance Manager to oversee the finance function across South-East Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Thailand, and the Philippines.
This is a highly hands-on leadership position where you will not only lead regional finance teams but also be actively involved in financial consolidation, month-end and year-end closing, management reporting, and ERP-based accounting activities. The successful candidate will work closely with local finance teams while serving as a key business partner to regional leadership.
Key Focus Areas
In addition to managing the regional finance operations, this role will play a critical part in driving finance transformation initiatives, including:
- Reviewing and restructuring the regional finance organisation to strengthen capabilities, reporting standards, internal controls, and cash management.
- Supporting the establishment of a regional Finance & Accounting Shared Services Centre across multiple business units.
- Leading ERP transformation projects, including migration from various local accounting systems to a group-wide ERP platform and supporting the subsequent implementation of a new Sage-based ERP solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function across multiple South-East Asian countries.
- Prepare regional financial consolidations, management reports, forecasts, and budgets.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities while providing hands-on support where required.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in accordance with group reporting requirements.
- Partner with senior management by providing financial insights to support business decisions.
- Develop, mentor, and strengthen regional finance teams.
- Drive financial planning initiatives that support business growth and profitability.
- Monitor regional cash flow and liquidity while optimising treasury activities.
- Oversee project costing, operating expenses, and financial controls.
- Build and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and other key external stakeholders.
- Liaise closely with global headquarters on financial reporting and compliance matters.
Additional Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Manage the regional financial calendar in line with group reporting deadlines.
- Coordinate annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting exercises.
- Lead month-end, fast-close, and year-end reporting processes.
- Prepare consolidated regional financial reports covering actual performance, forecasts, and budgets.
- Present financial performance and business insights to regional and global management.
- Monitor and analyse shared regional operating costs.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage banking facilities, guarantees, and financing arrangements.
- Maintain banking relationships and oversee foreign exchange management where applicable.
- Establish and monitor payment authorisation controls across business units.
- Monitor collections, receivables, project claims, and retention balances.
- Oversee liquidity management and intercompany funding while ensuring tax compliance.
- Support head office funding requirements and optimise cash utilisation.
Group Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly management reports, forecasts, and budget submissions.
- Manage intercompany reporting, lease accounting (IFRS 16), and HR-related reporting.
- Ensure compliance with group governance procedures and supplier/customer verification processes.
Operational Support
- Coordinate annual insurance renewals.
- Monitor expatriate employment arrangements and local statutory compliance.
- Oversee accounting for fixed assets and equipment fleets.
- Review internal rental rates, intercompany billing, and IT cost allocations.
- Monitor project financial performance and budget utilisation.
Requirements
- Willing to be based in Jakarta
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent will be advantageous.
- Proven experience in a hands-on Finance Manager or Regional Finance Manager position within a multi-country and multi-currency environment.
- Strong experience personally preparing financial statements, consolidations, management reports, and working directly within ERP or accounting systems.
- Comfortable operating within lean regional teams while balancing strategic leadership with operational execution.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS, group reporting, consolidation, intercompany accounting, lease accounting (IFRS 16), and financial compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems and finance transformation projects, including ERP implementations or migrations. Exposure to Oracle-based systems, QuickBooks, UBS, or Sage will be an advantage.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent understanding of accounting standards, financial controls, statutory requirements, and corporate governance.
- Proficient in finance and ERP software applications.
- Fluent in English.
