Job summary : To develop, test, and optimize food packaging solutions that ensure product quality, safety, shelf life, and cost efficiency while supporting brand and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve packaging materials and structures for food products (primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging).
- Conduct packaging trials, material testing, and performance evaluations (seal integrity, barrier properties, drop test, shelf-life compatibility).
- Work closely with Product R&D, Production, QA, and Marketing to ensure packaging meets product, operational, and branding requirements.
- Support new product launches by providing packaging design, specification, and validation.
- Evaluate and qualify new packaging suppliers and materials.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, packaging standards, and sustainability guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain packaging specifications, technical drawings, and SOPs.
- Troubleshoot packaging issues during production and recommend corrective actions.
- Support cost optimization and packaging improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in packaging R&D or packaging development in the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food packaging and label materials (plastic films, laminates, carton box, aluminium foil, rigid packaging, and flexible packaging).
- Understanding of food safety, packaging regulations, and shelf-life impact.
- Experience in packaging trials, line testing, and supplier coordination.
- Good analytical, documentation, and project management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and technical reporting.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
