The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects related to F&B retail outlets. This includes cost estimation, procurement, contract management, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning and Estimation:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for F&B retail construction and fit-out projects.
- Analyze and forecast total project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Conduct feasibility studies to determine project viability.
Procurement and Tendering:
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, and bills of quantities.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate contracts and manage procurement processes.
Cost Control and Management:
- Monitor and track project budgets to ensure financial efficiency.
- Assess variations and value engineering opportunities.
- Provide regular financial progress reports to stakeholders.
Contract Administration:
- Manage contractual relationships and resolve disputes with vendors or contractors.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Review and assess contractor claims for additional costs.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Liaise with architects, project managers, and engineers to align cost estimates with project design and objectives.
- Provide advice on procurement strategy and project risk management.
Post-Project Analysis:
- Conduct cost analysis post-completion to evaluate budget performance.
- Maintain project cost data for future use.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the F&B retail, hospitality, or commercial fit-out sectors.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift) and project management tools.
- Strong understanding of F&B retail project requirements, including kitchen fit-outs and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying potential risks.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Familiarity with local building codes and F&B industry standards.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy.
