Position Summary
The
Quality Engineer is responsible for executing the Quality Management System (QMS) on-site, supporting the Quality Manager in ensuring that all construction activities comply with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. This role focuses on the daily surveillance of construction quality, managing inspection workflows, validating test results, and maintaining accurate quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control Execution
- Conduct daily site inspections and surveillance for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural works.
- Monitor workmanship and material installation to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Perform risk-based quality checks and proactively identify potential non-conformances.
- Deficiency & Documentation Management
- Manage the workflow of Inspection Requests (IRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Corrective Action Requests (CARs), ensuring timely closure.
- Coordinate with third-party laboratories and testing agencies for material sampling, testing, and calibration activities.
- Validate test results and ensure all reports are accurate, complete, and properly filed.
- Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Assist the Quality Manager in developing weekly and monthly quality performance reports.
- Maintain quality KPIs, deficiency logs, and inspection databases.
- Prepare dashboards and visual reports on quality trends, rework rates, and inspection pass/fail ratios.
- Project Coordination & Support
- Interface with contractors, subcontractors, and the construction team on QA/QC matters.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and constructability assessments, providing quality input.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and facilitating site visits.
- Continuous Improvement Support
- Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives and applying lessons learned from previous projects.
- Identify inefficiencies in construction processes and recommend corrective strategies to the Quality Manager.
- Promote quality awareness and best practices among site personnel through regular interaction.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced certification is a plus: CQE, CQA, ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, or PMP.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of construction QA/QC experience.
- Experience in Data Center or mission-critical facilities is highly preferred.
- Background in large-scale projects such as infrastructure, industrial facilities, or high-rise buildings.
- Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary QA/QC team.
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of construction standards (ASTM, ACI, AISC, BS, ISO, NFPA, IEC, etc.).
- Expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Proficiency with QA/QC systems, digital inspection tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid), and document control platforms.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with contractors and consultants.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
