Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Job Description

• Analyze requirements (BRD, User Story, Acceptance Criteria) and identify test scenarios early in the sprint using a shift-left approach.
• Develop risk-based test plans and strategies in collaboration with Developers and Product Owners.
• Design positive, negative, and boundary test cases using techniques such as Equivalence Partitioning, Boundary Value Analysis, Decision Table, State Transition, and Error Guessing.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright or Katalon.
• Execute manual and automated tests, analyze test results, query databases for testing validations, check system logs, and execute Linux SSH commands.
• Perform API testing including validating HTTP status codes, response bodies, JSON schemas, response times, and testing backend APIs through Postman.
• Report and document defects in JIRA with clear and reproducible details.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across the entire development lifecycle and contribute to automation coverage and continuous QA improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a QA Engineer or Software Tester.
• Master test automation using Playwright (or similar tools like Cypress, Selenium, or Katalon) and be familiar with BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Gherkin).
• Strong understanding of REST API testing, Postman, and code-based API testing.
• Knowledge of Page Object Model, clean test architecture, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (such as GitHub Actions).
• Ability to write structured test cases with traceability to requirements, understand the defect lifecycle, and classify severity/priority.
• Proficient in using SQL for database verification and testing validations.
• Excellent communication, detail-oriented mindset, and proactiveness in identifying risks.
• Prior experience in insurance or financial services industries, familiarity with JavaScript / TypeScript, and performance testing experience (k6, JMeter) are considered a strong plus.
