Job Description
The Purchasing Import Officer is responsible for managing international purchasing activities and end-to-end import logistics. This position involves processing import orders, coordinating with overseas vendors and freight forwarders, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and tracking shipments to guarantee timely delivery and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Import Order Processing: Issue, verify, and track Purchase Orders (POs) sent to international suppliers based on internal inventory and production requirements.
- Documentation & Customs Clearance: Prepare, verify, and submit required import documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (B/L), Air Waybills (AWB), and Certificates of Origin (COO), ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and local warehouse teams to manage cargo movement and minimize transit delays and port fees.
- Vendor & Cost Management: Communicate with foreign suppliers regarding order status and lead times, process shipping payments (L/C, T/T), and calculate total landed costs for incoming inventory.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Update logistics tracking logs and maintain accurate records of import orders, shipping status, customs clearances, and vendor performance metrics in the company ERP system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in import purchasing, international trade, or logistics coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience using SAP
