Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Vision:

  • Accountable to deliver the overall Retail Transformation strategy - drive standardization, optimization and automation of retail processes, deliver relevant technology projects to enable new ways of working, manage banner to deliver changes on relevant processes in a sustainable way, oversee programme ROI through an ongoing change programme.
  • Oversee mobilization, kick off, design, delivery and transition of the full Retail Merchandising Transformation roadmap.
  • Develop programme direction: Create a programme strategy that aligns project vision with organizational goals.
  • Lead transformation: Ensure project and people alignment with broader transformation initiatives.
  • Provide leadership insights: Share best practices and innovative approach to enhance project outcomes.

Programme Leadership:

  • Oversee programme and associated project delivery: Manage all phases of the projects to ensure they meet organization goal, deliver scope, within budget, and on time.
  • Manage the full programme team which consists of process design, technology delivery, and banner change management resources.
  • Manage technology and service partners to deliver agreed scope on time in full.
  • Set goals and allocate resources: Define project objectives and timelines, optimizing resource use for efficiency.
  • Ensure quality standards: Implement quality checks to confirm deliverables meet established criteria.
  • Monitor performance: Regularly assess progress and adjust plans as needed to stay on track.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Engage with leadership: Work with Management Committee, Format CEOs, Banner and Tech Leadership team to align on objectives.
  • Communicate project status: Provide regular updates on progress and challenges to stakeholders, and manage escalation and expectation accordingly.
  • Facilitate dialogue: Ensure stakeholder needs are addressed through open communication channels.

Governance Management:

  • Establish and execute governance framework: Implement a solid structure to ensure accountability and compliance, drive process optimization alignment with tech delivery and banner change management
  • Track outcomes: Use scorecards to monitor project health and success metrics.
  • Lead governance meetings: Review project status and collaboratively address challenges.

Financial Reporting:

  • Collaborate with finance: Responsible for the full programme budget. Ensure timely updates on project budgets and expenditures.
  • Track benefits: work with finance and banners to measure and track programme ROI

Risk Management:

  • Develop risk management strategies: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain risk registers: Keep detailed records of risks and mitigation plans.

Methodology Development:

  • Establish project standards: Create and refine project management methodologies for consistency.
  • Provide training: Equip teams with resources to apply standards effectively.

Change Management:

  • Drive cross banner alignment towards 80% standardization, with straight change control.
  • Manage engagement: Ensure stakeholder involvement during change initiatives.
  • Address the human side of change: Develop strategies to support stakeholders through transitions.
  • Facilitate training: Organize sessions to enhance understanding and adaptation to changes.

Team Management:

  • This role will be managing a team of at least 50 people including software provider, consultants and internal DFI programme team (structure to be finalized)
  • Multiple leads will be reporting to this role, including but not less than:
  • Group Business Process Lead, direct report
  • Banner Transformation Lead, matrix report (solid line to Banner MD)
  • Technology Transformation Lead, matrix report (solid line to Group Tech CTO)

Qualifications / Professional Experience

  • Strong Project, People, and Stakeholder Management experience.
  • Retail experience is a must
  • Experience in retail transformation programme
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale process design and technology delivery projects with measurable business impact.
  • Expertise in strategic and roadmap planning and delivery.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a keen commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional communication skills, engaging effectively with senior executives and diverse teams.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance in a tech context.
  • Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in multinational, matrix organizations with appreciation for cultural sensitivities.
  • Willingness to travel, primarily within Asia.
