ROLE PURPOSE
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for executing daily production activities during the assigned shift in accordance with the production plan, operational targets, and instructions established by the Plant Manager.
The role focuses on:
· Safe plant operation
· Shift manpower leadership
· Operational stability
· Immediate troubleshooting
· Accurate shift reporting
The Production Shift Supervisor acts as the primary operational leader during the assigned shift and escalates major issues to the Plant Manager when required.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Shift Operations Management
1. Lead and supervise production activities according to production targets and operational plans
established by the Plant Manager.
2. Lead and supervise operation of all plant sections during shift:
· Weighbridge section
· Shredding section
· Leaching section
· Drying section
· Crushing section
· Pelleting section
· Cooling and packing section
· Product storage and management
· Raw material and biomass fuel management
3. Ensure stable production flow and operational continuity during shift.
4. Adjust operational settings within approved operating parameters.
Production Monitoring & Control
1. Monitor production throughput and ensure shift production targets are achieved
2. Monitor key operating parameters including:
· Dryer temperature
· Moisture content
· Pellet quality
· Feed rate
· Burner performance
3. Identify process abnormalities and implement immediate corrective actions.
4. Escalate major operational deviations or risks to Plant Manager promptly.
5. Monitor equipment performance and report potential failures before breakdown occurs.
Shift Manpower Leadership
1. Lead and supervise operators and helpers based on shift operational requirements.
2. Ensure all operators follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
3. Conduct shift briefings and toolbox meetings.
4. Monitor discipline, attendance, and productivity of shift personnel.
5. Support operator training and competency development.
Equipment & Operational Reliability
1. Monitor equipment condition during operation
2. Identify abnormal machine conditions and coordinate with maintenance team for corrective actions
3. Ensure proper shutdown and startup procedures are followed
4. Assist in troubleshooting operational issues during shift
5. Coordinate with maintenance team for operational issues requiring repair or inspection.
6. Assist maintenance team during troubleshooting and shutdown activities.
7. Ensure equipment isolation and startup/shutdown procedures are properly followed.
8. Report recurring equipment problems to Plant Manager.
Quality Control
1. Ensure pellets meet required specifications:
· Moisture content
· Calorific value
· Ash and potassium levels
· Size consistency
· Durability
· Cleanliness
2. Coordinate product sampling and quality checks.
3. Segregate non-conforming products when necessary.
4. Report quality deviations and support corrective actions.
5. Take corrective action when product quality deviates from standards
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)
1. Ensure all personnel use required PPE and comply with plant SHE procedures.
2. Lead and supervise good housekeeping and cleanliness throughout shift operations.
3. Identify unsafe acts or conditions and implement immediate corrective actions.
4. Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
5. Promote strong safety awareness and operational discipline among shift personnel.
Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination
1. Coordinate with warehouse and logistics personnel to ensure continuous material flow during shift
operations.
2. Monitor raw material availability at production feeding points and report shortages to Plant Manager.
3. Coordinate loading, unloading, packing, and finished goods movement during shift.
4. Ensure packing materials and operational consumables are available for uninterrupted operation.
5. Monitor truck movement and site logistics flow to avoid operational delays.
6. Report logistics or supply chain constraints affecting production performance.
Shift Reporting & Communication
1. Prepare accurate shift reports including:
· Production output
· Downtime and issues
· Fuel consumption
· Operational abnormalities
· Maintenance requests
· Quality issues
· Safety incidents
2. Conduct proper handover briefing to next shift supervisor.
3. Escalate critical operational issues requiring management decisions to Plant Manager.
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
1. Provide operational feedback and improvement suggestions to Plant Manager.
2. Support implementation of operational improvements, SOP updates, and efficiency initiatives.
3. Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis discussions.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
1. Bachelor's degree or vocational diploma in any engineering field or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial plant operations.
3. Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory role preferred.
4. Experience and have good understanding of biomass, pellet, or palm oil industry.
5. Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, material transfer, heat transfer,
rotating equipment (motors).
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
7. Proficient in verbal and written Bahasa Indonesia and English.
8. Strong leadership and team supervision.
9. Deep operational and technical understanding.
10.Troubleshooting and operational decision-making.
11.Ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team
12.Good communication and reporting skills.
13.Strong awareness of safety and operational discipline.
14.Detail-oriented and organized.
15.Ability to follow instructions.
