Responsible for developing, modifying, validating, and maintaining wiring harness products according to customer requirements, standards, and manufacturing capabilities. Acts as the main technical liaison between the customer, internal departments, and suppliers regarding product specifications and engineering changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical documents and translate them into internal production requirements.
- Create / update Bill of Materials (BOM), wiring diagrams, manufacturing drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Design wire harness layouts, terminals, connectors, sealing parts, and protection components based on application requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with standards.
- Support prototype build, sample submission (PPAP), and engineering validation tests (EVT/DVT).
- Evaluate engineering changes (ECR / ECN) and implement revisions across documentation and production.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during pilot run and mass production and provide corrective actions.
- Manage product cost optimization through material selection, component standardization, and design improvement.
- Maintain product master data in ERP and engineering systems.
- Communicate directly with customers and suppliers regarding technical issues, design changes, and sample approval.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Mechatronics or related).
- Minimum 25 years of experience in cable harness / wiring harness / automotive electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of connectors, terminals, wires, tubing, tape, and harness protection components.
- Familiar with drawing software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, E3, Zuken, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP is preferred.
- Good analytical skills and understanding of mass production processes (cutting, crimping, twisting, taping, soldering, molding, testing).
- Good communication and project coordination skills (customer-facing experience is a plus).
- Able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
