This role exists to optimize process stability, product quality, and operational efficiency within the Metal Coating Line (MCL) and Coil Paint Line (CPL) by providing expert process engineering analysis, continuous improvement, and technical support. It delivers value through the development of robust process controls, reduction of variability, improvement of product consistency, and execution of process-related improvement or CAPEX projects. By ensuring high-quality metallurgical and coating performance, this role directly supports NSBI's production reliability, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Implement and comply with NSBI OHSE Policy, process safety requirements, and government regulations to ensure safe operation of Metal Coating Line and Coil Paint Line.
- Monitor and analyze process parameters, coating performance, curing behavior, and line stability to ensure consistent product quality within target specifications.
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance process capability, reduce variability, improve coating & paint quality, and minimize production losses.
- Provide process engineering support to optimize furnace settings, coatingcuringpainting conditions, chemical usage, line speed, and energy consumption.
- Lead problemsolving and root cause analysis for process deviations, coating defects, paint defects, and quality issues across MCL and CPL.
- Develop and update process control documents such as SOPs, work instructions, operating windows, control plans, and metallurgical or paint process guidelines.
- Support and execute processrelated CAPEX and improvement projects, including design review, commissioning support, and postimplementation validation.
- Coordinate with production, quality, maintenance, and technical teams to ensure process control measures are effectively implemented and sustained.
- Ensure compliance with NSBI quality standards, customer product requirements, and industry (coating/painting) best practices.
- Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and corrective actions that improve yield and reduce scrap/rework.
- Manage and implement change management (MOCA) for any modification related to process parameters, equipment settings, or production recipes.
Qualification And/or Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering within manufacturing, continuous process industry, or metal coating/coil coating environments.
- Strong understanding of coating, curing, and painting process fundamentals, including metallurgy, chemical reactions, and material behavior.
- Knowledge of process control parameters such as coating weight, paint thickness, curing temperature, line speed, chemical concentration, and furnace profiles.
- Experience in production process monitoring, data analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for process deviations, defects, or instability issues.
- Understanding of quality standards related to coated steel and coil painting (customer specs, internal quality standards, lab/inspection requirements).
- Experience participating in or supporting process improvement or CAPEX projects.
- Good working knowledge of HSE requirements, particularly in chemical handling, furnace safety, and process safety.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills for process diagnosis and optimization.
- Effective communication and coordination skills with production, quality, maintenance, and project teams.
- Ability to work independently and make sound engineering judgments under dynamic operating conditions.
Preferred Qualification And/or Experience Required
- Experience working in Metal Coating Line (MCL), Galvanizing Line, Annealing Furnace, Coil Coating, or similar continuous process industry.
