Job Overview:
The Process Electrician Senior Superintendent position demands a comprehensive understanding of Process Electrician principles, leadership in workforce management, and familiarity with a broad range of disciplines including compliance, risk management, and logistics. The Process Electrician Senior Superintendent must leverage extensive industry experience to enhance productivity, mentor others, influence company-wide processes and policies for workforce management, and resolve multifaceted technical, operational, and organizational issues that affect project delivery and success.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead the process electrical division within the fabrication department, providing strategic oversight and direction for all electrical installation and maintenance activities
- Champion stringent safety protocols and practices, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations to maintain a hazard-free environment for electrical work
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans for the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation integral to fabrication processes
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, and other trade superintendents to integrate electrical work within the broader project scope and timelines
- Oversee the selection and procurement of electrical components, equipment, and materials, to be used for the installation of all electrical equipment on projects in the yard, ensuring compatibility with project requirements and adherence to quality standards
- Mentor and manage a team of process electricians and supervisors, fostering professional growth, skill development, and high-performance standards
- Be involved with the training/talent department in developing training course to ensure the upskilling of the workforce
- Liaise with the project QC teams to conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical installations to ensure they meet design specifications, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders on all electrical matters, ensuring clear communication and resolution of any issues
- Oversee the Electrical teams manning levels across all projects and ensure there are no gaps. Any gaps to be filled by recruitment plans via Recruitment drives, contract hires or Labor manpower supply companies.
- Ensure that all Roles and positions for specialist roles are filled with trained and qualified individuals. (re. Fibre Optic splicing and MV terminations)
- Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Advanced degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, or a related field, with extensive knowledge of process electrical systems in a fabrication environment
- Significant leadership experience in industrial electrical installations, with a proven track record of managing large-scale electrical projects
- In-depth understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship
- Demonstrated success in developing and enforcing electrical safety programs, with a commitment to preventing workplace incidents
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams to achieve project objectives and operational excellence
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, with the competence to oversee multiple projects and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building strong relationships with suppliers, clients, and cross-functional teams
- Availability to work in various environments and adapt to project schedules, including the willingness to work extended hours or travel to different job sites as needed
