Job Overview:
Provide strategic leadership and advanced technical expertise in geotechnical engineering to support slope stability, ground control, and earthworks design. The role is responsible for ensuring effective geotechnical risk management, validating key design assumptions, and integrating site data into practical and reliable engineering solutions that enable safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide geotechnical governance and technical support to operations and projects.
- Lead geotechnical field programs as required.
- Drive innovative solutions and maintain best-practice ground control frameworks and models.
- Ensure geotechnical risks are effectively captured and managed in site risk registers.
- Develop and review robust 2D/3D slope stability models.
- Support the development of practical ground control, earthworks, rehabilitation, and closure plans.
- Manage scopes of work and contracts for consultants and contractors.
- Review and develop corporate Geotechnical Standards.
- Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing within a high-performing team environment.
- Conduct site visits to ensure effective implementation of ground control practices.
- Lead design reviews and investigate slope failures to communicate key learnings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience in hard/soft rock mining with strong site-based exposure and leadership.
- Proficient in the use of geotechnical software for analysis and modeling.
- Solid practical experience in geotechnical engineering and ground control.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and review detailed geotechnical models.
- Good understanding of applicable mining regulations and standards.
- Able to interpret complex data into practical engineering solutions.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
