Job Description

The Pressure Systems Integrity (PSI) Engineer plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and reliability of pressure-containing assets by ensuring robust inspection, assessment, and mitigation strategies are applied throughout the asset lifecycle—from design through operation to decommissioning. This role ensures compliance with bp Group Practices, international codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME), and local regulations, supporting safe, reliable, and optimized asset performance within production facilities.

Essential Requirements

  • Proficient in inspection execution, and evaluation for pressure systems, including pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, and associated static equipment in LNG plant or similar operations.
  • Experienced in performing Risk Based Assessment/Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), and corrosion/damage mechanism evaluations.
  • Familiar with the selection and use of engineering tools and platforms for managing pressure equipment integrity and work management (e.g., IDMS, Nexus, RBI tools, SAP).
  • Knowledgeable in pressure systems-related codes, such as API 510, API 570, API 653, ASME Section VIII, B31.3, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Integrity Management Program, ensuring inspection strategies are risk-based, technically sound, and aligned with asset priorities.
  • Support efficient deployment of PSI engineering resources across the region, ensuring optimal support to site operations and maintenance teams.
  • Support the development and execution of regional PSI strategies, annual integrity plans, and associated budgets.
  • Participate in the management and technical oversight of contracts related to inspection, NDE services, and integrity data management systems.
  • Drive implementation of regional self-verification and assurance processes for PSI, ensuring effective controls are in place and risks are being actively managed.
  • Set and review engineering procedures and inspection work scopes to ensure consistency with industry best practice and site-specific requirements.
  • Support the deployment and standardization of PSI digital tools (e.g., IDMS, RBI platforms), and ensure data integrity and reliability across the region.
  • Continuously improve PSI program performance through monitoring of integrity KPIs, trending of anomalies, and periodic program health checks.
  • Capture and embed lessons learned from integrity-related events or near misses into engineering standards, practices, or workflows.
  • Where applicable, oversee internal staff or third-party contractors delivering PSI activities, promoting high performance, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Actively participate in regional or global PSI Communities of Practice to share knowledge, align practices, and support discipline development.

Essential Education

  • University degree in Material Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or industrial engineering with relevant experience.

Relevant Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of inspection techniques, methodologies and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in RBA/RBI practices and well-versed in industry standards such as API 510, API 570, and API 653
  • Experienced with Inspection Data Management Systems (IDMS)
