Job Summary
We are looking for experienced Power Plant Control Room Operators (DCS) with hands-on experience in the operation of modern gas/thermal power plants and/or desalination plants.
The role is responsible for monitoring and controlling plant equipment through the DCS/central control room, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators and associated plant systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate power plant equipment through DCS / Central Control Room systems.
- Monitor operating parameters, alarms, trends and plant performance.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators and associated auxiliaries.
- Support operations of gas/thermal power generation and desalination facilities.
- Perform plant start-up, shutdown and normalization activities as required.
- Review operating conditions and logs to identify abnormalities or potential equipment issues.
- Respond to alarms, equipment trips and abnormal operating conditions.
- Coordinate with field operators and maintenance teams during normal and emergency operations.
- Carry out equipment isolation and normalization for planned and emergency maintenance.
- Maintain accurate shift logs and operational records.
- Support optimization of plant performance and operating efficiency.
- Ensure equipment and operational areas are maintained in safe and satisfactory condition.
- Follow all HSE, environmental, quality and operational procedures.
- Work effectively in a rotational shift environment.
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Power Engineering or related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant power plant operations experience.
- Experience in modern gas, combined-cycle or thermal power plants preferred.
- Hands-on experience operating plants through DCS systems.
- Knowledge of turbine, boiler and generator operations.
- Desalination plant operations experience would be an advantage.
- Understanding of equipment isolation, plant start-up/shutdown and emergency operations.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts.
- Strong awareness of industrial and power plant safety requirements.
