Why do we need you

We are looking for a Photographer Assistant to join our production team and work closely with our photographers, retouchers and production team.

You'll be involved in the day-to-day life of the studio, supporting shoots from preparation through to production and helping make sure everything runs smoothly on set.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, reliable, curious, proactive and genuinely interested in photography and visual production.

You'll work alongside our photographers and the wider Supercool team, gaining real experience in how a professional photo & video studio operates, from equipment and lighting to set preparation, production and post-production.

Role Overview

The Assistant Photographer supports the Lead Photographer and the production team throughout photo productions, from preparation to final delivery for the client.

The role is responsible for ensuring that photography equipment, lighting, sets and production areas are properly prepared and that the photographer has everything required to execute the production efficiently and to Supercool standards.

The Assistant Photographer is expected to be proactive, technically curious, organized and able to work calmly and efficiently in a fast paced production environment

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Photographer during fashion, e-commerce, editorial, lookbook, campaign, and commercial productions.

• Prepare, check, clean, organize, and maintain photography and lighting equipment before, during, and after each production.

• Assist with lighting setups, modifiers, stands, continuous lights (Aputure), strobes (Profoto), cables, tethering equipment, and technical requirements.

Set up the studio shooting area, cyclorama, paper backdrops, and props according to the creative brief and production plan. 

Assist with tethered shooting (Capture One/Lightroom), basic file management, image backup protocols, and safe file transfers during & after productions.

• Support the photographer with lens changes, lighting adjustments, and camera settings on set.

• Assist with set pack-down, studio cleaning, and ensuring all equipment is safely packed and stored in its designated place after each shoot.

• Work closely with photographers, producers, videographers, stylists, hair/makeup artists, models, and clients.

• Provide basic support to the retouching and post-production team when required.

• Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment immediately to Studio Management.

• Continuously develop technical photography knowledge and understanding of studio lighting, equipment, and production workflows.

Professional Expectations

• Prior experience as a photo assistant or studio technician in a professional environment is a strong plus.

• Good understanding of basic photography principles, manual camera settings, and studio lighting (flash & continuous).

• Familiarity with tethered capture workflows (Capture One, Adobe Creative Suite, Mac OS).

• Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and careful handling of expensive equipment.

• Reliable, punctual, stress-resistant, and possesses a positive, team-first attitude.

• Fluency in English (written & spoken) is mandatory. Bahasa Indonesia is a strong advantage.

• Based in Bali with personal transport/valid driver's license.
