Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Jakarta, Indonesia.

ABOUT OUCRU INDONESIA

The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Indonesia (OUCRU ID; formerly EOCRU) operates in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia. OUCRU ID is part of the Major International Programme Vietnam sponsored by the Wellcome and governed by the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. OUCRU in Indonesia and Vietnam, along with their many local and international partners, conduct biomedical, clinical, and epidemiological research on infections impacting the health of people living in Southeast Asia and beyond.

JOB SUMMARY

The Public and Community Engagement (PCE) Officer supports the implementation of OUCRU Indonesia's Public and Community Engagement strategy, with a primary focus on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning MEL), researcher engagement support, Seed Awards coordination, and projects coordination.

Working closely with the PCE Manager, other PCE officers, researchers, and collaborators, the role contributes to strengthening evidence-informed engagement practice and meaningful dialogue between research and society.

The role contributes to the implementation of the PCE Theory of Change (ToC), supporting engagement initiatives aligned with OUCRU's strategic priorities.

PCE Officers work collaboratively across all areas of the PCE programme. While this role has designated areas of focus, the officer is expected to contribute flexibly to engagement activities, projects coordination, administration, and team priorities as needed.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

  • Coordinate and implement MEL processes for PCE activities and programmes.
  • Take primary responsibility for documenting reflections, lessons learned, feedback, and engagement outcomes across activities.
  • Coordinate data collection, synthesis and reporting related to engagement activities and programme impact.
  • Contribute to development of learning products, case studies, internal reflections, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Researcher-led Engagement

  • Take primary responsibility for coordination and implementation of the PCE Seed Awards programmes, including communications, documentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Support researchers in designing and implementing engagement activities linked to their research.
  • Serve as a focal point for researcher-led engagement initiatives.

Capacity Building

  • Coordinate operational aspects of PCE workshops and learning sessions.

Shared Projects Responsibilities

  • Contribute to community participation activities, including FORUM and community dialogue platforms.
  • Support youth engagement initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Contribute to public engagement initiatives, dissemination activities, and communication material development.
  • Work collaboratively with other PCE officers in implementing cross-cutting engagement activities.

Projects Coordination and Administration

  • Coordinate planning, tracking, and operational management of PCE activities, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Maintain projects records, reporting systems, and shared filing systems.
  • Take responsibility for logistical and administrative arrangements for meetings, workshops, trainings, and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate procurement processes, reimbursements and reporting support.

General Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with OUCRU researchers, operational teams, and external partners.
  • Ensure engagement activities are documented and implemented in line with ethical and organisational standards.
  • Undertake other tasks as reasonably required by the PCE Manager to support the objectives of the PCE projects.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Global Health, Development Studies, Communication, Community Development, Social Sciences, or Education, with demonstrated relevant professional experience. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
  • English level: Upper Intermediate – Advanced
  • Work experience: Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong experience on implementing Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
  • Good understanding of community engagement principles and public health, particularly in community-based programmes.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and organisational skills, with experience supporting meetings, trainings, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills, with attention to detail and effective task management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams and networks.
