Packaging Engineer

General

• Responsible for product packaging development and management.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assist to manage project packaging specifications and artwork proofs and ensure they are consistently implemented in production.
• Support the correct and efficient execution of measuring/sizing PDQ's and master cartons.
• Assist in the cost-effective delivery and implementation of the defined packaging design and specifications provided in project briefs.
• Interface with Engineering team, Asia Packaging team and FG suppliers and Printers to ensure that design and specifications are delivered the first time around and every time.
• Assist in sourcing new packaging suppliers for new packaging design.
• Assist in facilitating packaging sustainability initiative.
• Interact with designated suppliers and service providers for Pallet development related activities.

Required Skill Set

• Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Required English reading, writing, and speaking to convey technical packaging information.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Outlook/Excel/Word and PowerPoint.
• Common understanding of English measuring system.
• Extremely organized and highly detailed with a focus on accuracy and precision.
• Project management skills. During busy season, multiple specs for different projects may happen all at the same time. Prospective employee must be able to juggle tight deadlines and changing priorities with minimal stress.
• Knowledge of Packaging / Printing technology and materials is a must.
• Packaging production experience (prepress, press, post-press) and pack out experiences is preferred.
• Assist with graphic & office software skills , Color Management.
• Structural packaging development experience will be added plus point.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• College degree – Degree in Packaging Engineering or Degree in Printing Technology
• 5-8 years experience in Printing Industry or managing Packaging development
• General understanding of problem-solving processes
• Ability to influence and intervene to ensure optimized packaging solutions is delivered.
• Persists in overcoming barriers
• Manage time to meet tight deadlines
• Good teamwork spirit
• Review packaging quality and collect data. Check for accuracy based on packaging specification
• Basic understanding of mathematics and geometric relationships. When sizing PDQs/Display trays for primary packaging and sizing master cartons one must determine the size based on inner product and material specifications
