Role Description The Operator Reach Stacker is responsible for safely operating reach stacker equipment to move, stack, and organize containers within the port or yard area. Day-to-day tasks include loading and unloading containers from trucks and vessels, positioning containers according to yard plans, and ensuring efficient use of space in the storage area. The role involves conducting basic equipment checks, reporting any mechanical issues, and following safety procedures and operational standards at all times. The Operator Reach Stacker will work closely with yard supervisors, signalers, and other logistics staff to support smooth cargo handling operations. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ternate.
Qualifications
  • Strong reach stacker and heavy equipment operation skills, including safe container handling and maneuvering in confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of port, yard, and logistics operations, including container stacking systems, loading/unloading procedures, and basic documentation flow.
  • Solid understanding and implementation of occupational health and safety practices, including adherence to PPE, traffic management, and emergency procedures.
  • Basic mechanical awareness to perform routine equipment checks and promptly report any technical issues to maintenance teams.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, follow instructions from supervisors, and communicate clearly with ground staff and colleagues.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed, in outdoor and port environments.
  • Relevant certification or license for operating reach stackers or heavy equipment, in accordance with local regulations.
  • Prior experience in container terminal, port, or logistics operations is highly preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
