Operations Director to lead their multi-site manufacturing and distribution network.
This role is for a Heavyweight operational leader who can manage a diverse asset base—ranging from chemical processing plants to high-volume material distribution hubs. The focus is on stabilizing margins through operational efficiency, optimizing a massive logistics footprint, and maintaining uncompromising safety standards across all locations.
Core Responsibilities
1. Multi-Site Industrial Strategy
- Network Synchronization: Align production schedules across multiple sites to meet fluctuating demand in the construction and industrial sectors.
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee the maintenance and modernization of heavy industrial assets, ensuring high uptime and strategic replacement cycles for aging machinery.
- Footprint Optimization: Evaluate and optimize the geographic footprint of plants and warehouses to minimize logistics costs and improve delivery speed to key project sites.
2. Supply Chain & Bulk Logistics
- Procurement Strategy: Lead the strategic sourcing of bulk raw materials (minerals, polymers, or base chemicals), managing long-term contracts and hedging against price volatility.
- Outbound Excellence: Optimize heavy-haul logistics and distribution networks to ensure cost-effective delivery of bulk products to distributors and large-scale infrastructure projects.
3. HSE & Regulatory Governance
- Safety Leadership: Champion a Process Safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to international safety protocols (ISO 45001) and hazardous material handling regulations.
- Environmental Stewardship: Oversee waste management and emission control initiatives, ensuring the company leads in sustainable manufacturing practices within the industry.
4. Lean & Process Engineering
- Standardization: Implement a unified Operational Excellence playbook across all sites to ensure consistent quality and output, regardless of location.
- Cost Leadership: Drive aggressive COGS reduction through energy efficiency programs, automation of packaging/loading, and reduction of raw material waste.
5. CAPEX & Organizational Growth
- Expansion Management: Lead the technical and financial execution of new plant setups (Greenfield) or line upgrades (Brownfield).
- Team Development: Build a robust middle-management layer of Plant Managers and Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and technical mastery.
The Ideal Profile
- Experience: 15–20 years of experience in heavy industry (Building Materials, Cement, Industrial Chemicals, or Steel), with at least 5 years in a Multi-Site/Country Operations leadership role.
- Education: Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. An MBA or advanced management degree is highly valued.
- Skillset: * Mastery of Supply Chain Logistics for bulk/heavy goods.
- Deep experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Proven track record of managing CAPEX budgets exceeding $10M+.
- Attributes: High-energy leader with a boots-on-the-ground approach; able to navigate between remote factory sites and corporate boardrooms.
- Language: Professional fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
