Summary
We are seeking a versatile System Engineer with strong foundational skills in Linux administration and a specialization in virtualized infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of virtual environments, from design and deployment to proactive maintenance and troubleshooting. This role requires a blend of hardware-level understanding and high-level software virtualization expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Virtualization Management: Design, deploy, and maintain robust virtualized infrastructure to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Linux Administration: Manage the Linux filesystem, utilizing general command syntax for system management, user permissions, and user access control.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve complex issues related to virtualization and networks; work alongside cross-functional teams to provide technical solutions for project-related needs.
- Optimization: Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure virtual infrastructures operate at peak efficiency.
- Data Integrity: Manage and execute backup, restore, and recovery procedures to protect critical business data.
- Network & Hardware: Apply basic knowledge of hardware networks to perform routine troubleshooting and connectivity maintenance.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in designing and managing enterprise-scale virtualized environments.
- Banking industry experience is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Linux Expertise: Solid knowledge of the Linux filesystem, command-line usage, and syntax.
- Virtualization: Expertise in virtualization technologies; knowledge of KVM or OLVM is highly preferred.
- Oracle Specialty: Experience with Oracle OLVM is a strong plus.
- Networking: Basic understanding of hardware networks and network-level troubleshooting.
- Security & Recovery: Proficient in managing user permissions and implementing backup/recovery protocols.
Non-Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Good communication skills for collaborative troubleshooting.
