We are seeking an experienced Oil Palm Plantation Manager to oversee large-scale plantation operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in estate management, soil fertility systems (including composting and vermicomposting), harvest planning, and plantation logistics. The role requires hands-on operational leadership combined with strong planning and cost-control capability.
Plantation & Field Operations
- Manage overall plantation performance including planting, maintenance, replanting, irrigation, and estate infrastructure.
- Monitor crop health, yield performance, and long-term productivity.
- Implement best agronomic practices and sustainability standards.
Soil Fertility & Organic Systems
- Develop and manage integrated soil fertility programs (organic and mineral).
- Oversee large-scale composting and vermicomposting operations.
- Implement soil amendments such as biochar and organic inputs.
- Conduct soil analysis and nutrient budgeting to improve soil organic matter and productivity.
Harvest & Logistics Management
- Plan and supervise harvest scheduling and workforce allocation.
- Minimize FFB losses and optimize collection cycles.
- Manage internal estate logistics including transport of inputs and harvested fruit.
- Oversee machinery utilization, inventory management, and cost efficiency per hectare.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and supervise field teams, supervisors, and harvest crews.
- Establish KPIs, productivity tracking, and operational reporting systems.
- Ensure safety, compliance, and operational discipline across the estate.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with local agricultural regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Implement health and safety protocols to protect workers, crops, and the environment.
Requirements
Education and Certifications
- Master's or bachelor's degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Plantation Management, or a related field.
- Certifications in agricultural machinery operation, pest management, plantation management systems or precision agriculture are a plus.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil palm plantation management.
- Proven experience in large scale composting, vermicomposting, and soil amendment programs.
- Prior experience working in Senegal or East African countries is an added advantage.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of modern agricultural practices, irrigation systems, and soil health management in Oil palm plantations.
- Proficiency in farm management software and precision agriculture tools.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or local languages is a plus.

Precision Agriculture and Technology Expertise
- Proficiency in using smart farming tools like drones, GPS-enabled machinery, and IoT sensors for efficient resource management and real-time monitoring.
Water Resource Management
- Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems (e.g., drip and subsurface systems) and water conservation techniques, particularly for semi-arid regions like Senegal.
Sustainability and Regenerative Agriculture
- Expertise in sustainable farming practices such as no-till farming, cover crops, and organic soil management to enhance productivity while reducing environmental impact
