We Are Looking For
As the Network Engineer, you will report to the Senior IT Infrastructure and Network Manager and support the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the data centre network infrastructure. This role helps keep network connectivity stable and reliable, while ensuring service tickets, cabling works, and coordination with internal teams, vendors, carriers, and contractors are handled properly to support smooth data centre operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor, manage, resolve, and update network-related service tickets, including trouble tickets, customer requests, cross-connects, cabling works, and installation requests through PDG's ticketing system.
- Perform installation, termination, testing, labelling, tracing, and documentation of copper and fibre cross-connects in accordance with data centre standards.
- Support network readiness for customer deployments, racks, cabinets, carrier services, and internal infrastructure needs.
- Work with vendors, field technicians, telecommunications providers, and internal operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues within agreed timelines.
- Keep cabling routes, patching details, rack elevations, network handover documents, test results, and completed work orders accurate and up to date.
- Carry out routine checks of network rooms, racks, patch panels, cabling pathways, and related infrastructure to ensure they meet operational, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Follow PDG operational procedures, ServiceNow knowledge base, RunSmart OS, site rules, change management processes, and escalation protocols.
- Provide onsite escort support for customers, vendors, carriers, and contractors, and ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with site access and security requirements.
- Support data centre security by following badging, access control, customer confidentiality, and data protection procedures.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration records.
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support and participate in on-call support when required.
Qualities You Should Have
- Diploma or degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in data centre network operations, structured cabling, network support, or telecommunications infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of copper and fibre cabling, patching, cross-connects, rack layout, network connectivity, and basic troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical Data Center environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across multiple technology teams.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems, service request handling, change control, documentation, and operational procedures in a mission-critical environment.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with contractors, vendors, customers, and internal operations teams.
