Mechanical Technician – Recovery Side (Evaporator & Recovery Boiler)
Job Purpose
Responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance activities in the Recovery area, including Evaporator and Recovery Boiler equipment, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for mechanical equipment in the Recovery area.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair rotating and static equipment such as pumps, valves, conveyors, agitators, gearboxes, blowers, and piping systems.
- Support shutdown and turnaround activities for Evaporator and Recovery Boiler equipment.
- Conduct equipment alignment, bearing replacement, seal replacement, and vibration checking.
- Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities to supervisors or engineers.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed according to safety standards, SOP, and work permits.
- Coordinate with operation teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain maintenance records and complete work reports properly.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure housekeeping and work area cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma education in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as Mechanical Technician in pulp & paper, power plant, chemical plant
- Experience handling equipment in Evaporator and/or Recovery Boiler area is preferred.
- Good understanding of rotating equipment, piping systems, pumps, valves, and maintenance practices.
- Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance concepts.
- Able to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to work in shift schedule and shutdown activities if required.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and permit-to-work system.
Mechanical Technician – Paper / Paperboard Area
Job Purpose
Responsible for executing mechanical maintenance activities in the Paper or Paperboard production area to support equipment reliability, production efficiency, and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance for Paper/Paperboard production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on pumps, motors, gearboxes, rollers, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Support maintenance activities for paper machine, board machine, winder, rewinder, and finishing equipment.
- Conduct routine inspection and condition monitoring to identify potential failures.
- Carry out alignment, lubrication, bearing replacement, and mechanical adjustment activities.
- Assist during machine shutdown, overhaul, and improvement projects.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety standards and procedures.
- Coordinate closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize machine performance.
- Maintain proper documentation and maintenance records.
- Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Diploma education in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as Mechanical Technician in Paper or Paperboard industry.
- Experience handling Paper Machine or Board Machine equipment is preferred.
- Good knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Able to read technical drawings and mechanical schematics.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Willing to work in shift schedule and support shutdown activities when required.
