Mechanical Engineer

Objective:

Lead and oversee the pre-commissioning, commissioning, mechanical completion verification, and start-up of mechanical systems to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and in accordance with design specifications before plant handover.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the pre-commissioning and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems throughout the plant.
• Verify mechanical completion of equipment against approved drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and vendor documentation.
• Plan, supervise, and execute commissioning activities for rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, conveyors, tanks, vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, and utility systems.
• Conduct mechanical inspections, alignment checks, lubrication verification, flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, leak testing, and performance testing.
• Coordinate equipment preservation, flushing, cleaning, and readiness prior to start-up.
• Supervise equipment start-up, trial runs, performance verification, and reliability testing.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues identified during commissioning and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate closely with electrical, automation, instrumentation, and process commissioning teams to ensure integrated system readiness.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), vendor inspections, and performance guarantee tests.
• Ensure compliance with mechanical standards, safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and commissioning procedures.
• Review and clear mechanical punch lists before system handover.
• Prepare commissioning procedures, inspection records, test reports, mechanical completion documentation, and final commissioning reports.
• Provide technical support during plant start-up, stabilization, and optimization.
• Train operations and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in mechanical commissioning for industrial facilities, preferably in pulp & paper, petrochemical, power generation, mining, or other heavy industries.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, static equipment, piping systems, utility systems, and mechanical installation standards.
• Experience with mechanical testing, alignment, vibration monitoring, lubrication systems, and equipment performance evaluation.
• Familiarity with international engineering and safety standards (ASME, API, ISO, IEC, or equivalent).
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership abilities.
• A contract-based during project phase, with a high chance of permanent during operation & maintenance phase.
• Willing to be placed in OKI, South Sumatra.
