We Are Looking For

As the Mechanical Design Manager, you will report to the Head of Data Center Design and Solutioning and lead the Mechanical Design function for Indonesia. You will be accountable for design strategy, technical governance, and successful delivery of mechanical systems across multiple data center projects, from concept through commissioning and handover.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Manager with deep expertise in data center mechanical systems to lead design excellence, manage stakeholders, and develop high-performing engineering teams. This role requires strong technical authority, leadership capability, and the ability to work closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and hyperscale customers.

To succeed in this role, you should have extensive knowledge and experience in mechanical design engineering, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Your Job Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership & Governance

  • Own and approve mechanical design strategies, standards, and specifications for data center projects
  • Provide technical leadership on cooling architecture, redundancy philosophy, and energy efficiency
  • Ensure designs comply with PDG standards, local codes, and hyperscaler requirements

2. Team & Capability Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Mechanical Design Engineers
  • Review team outputs for quality, constructability, and risk
  • Support resource planning, workload allocation, and capability building

3. Stakeholder & Project Leadership

  • Act as the primary mechanical design point of contact for internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and clients
  • Provide technical input during client engagements, design reviews, and executive-level discussions
  • Support project planning by identifying design risks, cost impacts, and schedule implications early

4. Execution Oversight

  • Oversee the execution of mechanical systems across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with approved designs
  • Support site teams in resolving complex design and constructability issues
  • Provide escalation support during critical project milestones

5. IST, Commissioning & Handover

  • Provide leadership and technical oversight for IST, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Ensure mechanical readiness and documentation completeness prior to client handover
  • Engage directly with hyperscale customers on IST and acceptance criteria

6. Safety & Risk Management

  • Set safety expectations and standards for mechanical design and construction
  • Review risk assessments and ensure safety-by-design principles are embedded
  • Champion PDG's safety culture across mechanical disciplines

Qualities You Should Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (master's preferred)
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in data center mechanical design and delivery
  • Proven experience leading mechanical design teams or acting as a discipline lead
  • Strong experience engaging hyperscale customers and managing IST
  • In-depth knowledge of cooling systems, redundancy design, and mission-critical facilities
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Advanced proficiency in design and coordination tools including AutoCAD, BIM, and project planning systems
  • Ability to review and challenge consultant deliverables at a senior technical level
