About the Role

We are supporting a leading player in the specialty chemicals sector to appoint a Head of Marketing based in Jakarta. This is a critical leadership hire with broad ownership across strategic marketing, product management, brand positioning, digital initiatives, and market-facing commercial support.

This is not a classic make-brochures-and-run-campaigns marketing role. The position sits at the intersection of portfolio strategy, market intelligence, commercial direction, pricing logic, and team leadership. You will shape the company's overall marketing game plan, provide structure and direction to the team, and serve as the key focal point for all marketing-related activities internally and externally.

The role requires someone with a strong strategic lens, commercial maturity, and the ability to translate market signals into practical action. You will lead from the front in understanding what customers value, how competitors are positioning themselves, where the market is moving, and how those insights should influence the business's product, branding, and go-to-market decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's overall marketing strategy in line with business objectives, growth priorities, and market opportunities
  • Manage and guide a team covering Product Management and Digital Marketing, ensuring strong alignment, structure, and execution discipline
  • Act as the central point of leadership for all marketing-related matters across the business, including internal stakeholders, customers, partners, and external market engagements
  • Build and drive strategic marketing plans that strengthen market presence, support commercial growth, and sharpen competitive positioning
  • Translate customer, competitor, and market data into actionable recommendations for portfolio direction, pricing, market focus, and business priorities
  • Provide the business with a strong outside-in market view by monitoring industry shifts, customer expectations, competitor activity, and broader commercial trends
  • Support and influence product strategy and new development direction through close collaboration with leadership, sales, and technical teams
  • Strengthen brand positioning and ensure consistency of messaging and market presence across channels and touchpoints
  • Oversee marketing campaigns, digital initiatives, and demand generation activities with a strong focus on effectiveness, relevance, and business impact
  • Represent the company in public forums, events, industry engagements, and strategic meetings as a senior marketing leader
  • Develop high-quality presentations, internal business updates, and strategic communication materials that help leadership and commercial teams make informed decisions
  • Drive a more structured, forward-looking marketing function with clear priorities, stronger execution standards, and measurable commercial contribution

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Around 10+ years of relevant marketing experience, with strong exposure to leadership responsibilities in B2B, industrial, chemical, or specialty chemicals environments
  • Proven success in strategic marketing, product or portfolio marketing, brand positioning, and commercial support functions
  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams and driving performance across multiple marketing disciplines
  • Demonstrated strength in market intelligence, with the ability to convert customer and competitor insights into practical commercial actions and recommendations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the business externally
  • Confident working across functions, including leadership, sales, technical, and product-related teams
