Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mandarin Interpreter and Translator based in Solo. The role involves providing accurate, real-time interpretation between Mandarin and local or international languages during meetings, factory visits, trainings, and other business activities. The interpreter and translator will translate written documents such as emails, reports, technical specifications, and product-related materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, and cultural appropriateness. Daily tasks include supporting communication between management, local teams, and overseas stakeholders, preparing translated materials in advance of meetings, and following up on any language-related clarifications. The role also includes maintaining confidentiality, building subject-matter familiarity within footwear manufacturing and operations, and supporting cross-cultural understanding to facilitate efficient collaboration.
Qualifications
- Strong language skills in Mandarin and at least one other working language (such as English and/or Indonesian), including excellent listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.
- Proven experience in interpretation (consecutive and/or simultaneous) and written translation in a business or industrial environment, ideally within manufacturing or footwear-related sectors.
- Ability to understand and convey technical and operational terminology related to production processes, quality control, and corporate communication.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in translated materials, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfort working on-site in a factory and office environment, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Relevant education such as a diploma or bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, Communication, International Relations, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in standard office software and communication tools; familiarity with translation or terminology management tools is an advantage.
