Job Description

Part A:Key Deliverables / About the role (Provide a brief, what success in the position looks like, and how it fits into the company)

The NPI Manager shall be reporting to the Head of PDI (Manufacturing) in ALCO and dotted to Senior Manager, Product Development & Improvement (PDI) in HQ.

The role leads the project management activities for new SKUs under New Product Introduction (NPI), which includes preparation of the ordering spec cards with Sales Operation and identify the materials required as part of the preparation of the BOM.

The NPI manager is hands on and lead the project initiation (kick off meeting with all relevant stakeholders) and follow up meetings. The projects update are managed in click-up and project management file (NPI BAO) including timeline for development, machine prototype distributor engagement sample to commercial delivery end to end. He/She will be allocated with the product categories (White/Kretek/EOC) under his/her responsible.

He/She works closely with HQ SCIP and Factory Planning on material readiness for machine prototype and commercial and HQ FP&A and Factory PDI on the draft product costing and final BOM costing.

The scope of this role entails projects in all sites in cigarette, vape liquid manufacturing within and outside Indonesia.

Part B:Responsibilities and Duties

  • To kick-off project management with relevant stakeholders and click-up initiation of project with sales operations
  • Update and maintain Master Project List (By Factory, EM, & Category), ordering spec card, NPI BAO (project management file) and document all project reference documents in Share-point library
  • Chair weekly follow up weekly meetings with Factory PDI, IKG and planning on the NPI SKUs readiness plan
  • Provide weekly updates with Sales Operation & end -market on the NPI SKUs status and delivery timeline
  • Trigger product development and work closely with Factory Blending, BOL-LAB on product development as required
  • Plan in the NPI SKUs based on market insight and flavor preference to be finalized with HQ NPI
  • Sensory panel trained and contribute as part of panel for machine prototype review
  • All packaging material development include cigarette die, Tipping Paper, Hinge-Lid, security seal etc with marketing, engineering and IKG and relevant external suppliers for the tool/material readiness
  • Prepares the draft product costing with relevant input from PDI team to phase the cost improvement activities during NPI stage to facilitate red-box review and approval
  • Provides approval to Factory PDI for machine prototype trials (PMD, FMD, SMD) or BOL mixing to facilitate product development trials
  • Track the NPI stage and facilitate the expedition to ensure the timeline committed are on track, provide escalation and risk management using NPI BAO on any impact to launch timeline
  • Review all registration requirements required for NPI SKUs with HQ Strategy
  • Any other ad-hoc projects assigned by immediate reporting and must be hands-on.

Part C:Qualifications & Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Etc)

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering with prior experience on supplier management will also be considered
  • Have experience in tobacco industry and sensory trained to be part of the sensory panel for factory is a must
  • At least 5 years proven work experience in process management, supply chain or product development.
  • Fluent in written and communication in English is a must
  • Preferably working experience in Manufacturing/Production, Electrical, Mechanical industries.
  • Meticulous, systematic, organizes, proactive, good analytical skills and sound business judgement.

  • Working Location: Indonesia Batam, under ALCO
