Job Overview:

The Manager Marine Operations (Batam Marine Base Manger) is responsible to manager and coordinate vessels, equipment, and personnel that are being mobilized or demobilized at McDermott's fabrication yard in Batam, for offshore construction operations. It is to be noted that this position is not directly related to the fabrication works that are performed in McDermott's fabrication yard, as these operations are managed by the Fabrication Department.

This position is specifically to support the Marine Department for the prepare vessels and equipment to execute construction operations offshore.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all operations and activities are performed safely and timely.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the assigned work scope to be executed meets McDermott and Client technical requirements/standards and is completed within the allocated budgets.
  • Able to oversee fabrication / preparation activities necessary to prepare vessels / barges to execute offshore installation operations and the associated clearances / movements of vessels / barges, personnel, and equipment into and out of McDermott's Fabrication Yard in Batam. This position is specifically to manage the mobilization / demobilization of the offshore marine spreads for the execution of offshore operations.
  • Direct and take responsibility for the marine team under the Marine Base Managers control to meet deadlines and deliver all work scopes as planned.
  • Able to manage and develop a team of Indonesian Marine Field Engineers who will be on the ground to coordinate / execute the mobilization / demobilization of vessels / barges, personnel, and equipment.
  • Able to coordinate / align with the McDermott Fabrication Team, who has overall control of the yard.
  • Able to coordinate/align with local authorities to arrange clearances.
  • Able to manage and reconcile day to day charges for the operations performed in yard.
  • Hardworking, proactive, problem solver, that communicates well on all levels and can develop / support the Field Engineers.
  • Able to build relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
  • Able to be based full time in Batam, Indonesia.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 10 + years experience of managing marine / marine base operations.
  • Experience managing a team of 8 or more direct reports.
  • Understanding of offshore heavy lift, pipelay, and subsea projects.
  • Good communication, coordination, and organizing skills. Able to work with minimal supervision and liaise effectively and efficiently with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and integrity.
  • Stakeholder Management skills - Proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Delivery orientated. Able to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge & experience of offshore T&I projects including execution, safety management, budget control, schedule control, and quality control management.
  • Detailed understanding of vessels, equipment, and crew logistics.
  • Detailed understanding of vessel berthing operations, yard lifting operations, fabrication / hot work operations, and the associated HSE requirements / procedures.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards.
