About the Role

Talkative English Learning Centre (TELC) is looking for Part-Time English Teachers who enjoy communicating in English and helping learners improve their skills through practical, engaging, and supportive lessons.

This is a schedule-based position. Teachers only need to come to TELC when they have an assigned teaching session. There is no requirement to remain at the TELC office when you do not have a scheduled class.

Students may attend lessons face-to-face at TELC or online. However, teachers conduct all assigned lessons from the TELC office, including online classes. This is therefore not a work-from-home position.

TELC provides the lesson objectives, materials, exercises, activities, and teaching guidance required for assigned sessions. Teachers can concentrate on what matters most during the lesson: teaching, explaining, interacting, guiding practice, and helping students improve their English.

What You Will Teach

Depending on the student and assigned lesson, you may help learners develop skills such as:

- Speaking and conversational fluency
- Pronunciation
- Vocabulary
- Grammar in context
- Reading comprehension
- Listening comprehension
- Writing
- Idea development and paragraph construction
- Expressing and supporting opinions
- Discussion and critical thinking
- Presentation and communication skills

Teachers may be assigned to different students and learning activities based on their strengths, availability, and suitability.

Your Responsibilities

As a TELC teacher, you will:

- Come to the TELC office for your assigned teaching sessions.
- Conduct face-to-face lessons with students attending TELC.
- Conduct online lessons from the TELC office for students attending remotely.
- Follow the lesson objectives, materials, activities, and teaching guidance provided for each session.
- Explain concepts clearly and appropriately for the learner's English level.
- Encourage students to actively speak, think, respond, ask questions, and use English.
- Guide students to develop their own answers rather than simply giving answers to them.
- Ask useful follow-up questions and encourage meaningful discussion.
- Create a comfortable learning environment where students are not afraid of making mistakes.
- Observe students strengths, difficulties, participation, confidence, and progress.
- Provide concise and useful observations after teaching sessions.
- Give constructive and encouraging feedback.
- Be punctual and professionally prepared for confirmed classes.
- Use TELC's teaching resources, computers, documents, and digital tools as required.
- Participate in training and professional development when required.

Schedule & Availability

This is a part-time, schedule-based teaching position.

You do not need to stay at TELC when you do not have an assigned class.

Teachers may have other activities, studies, or professional commitments outside their TELC teaching schedule.

However, we are looking for teachers who can provide reliable availability and prioritize TELC teaching assignments during the availability they have committed to.

Once a teaching session has been confirmed, it should be treated as a professional commitment. Frequent last-minute cancellations or schedule changes are not suitable for this role.

Reliability is particularly important because students learning schedules depend on teacher availability.

- Are comfortable interacting with children, teenagers, and/or adults.
- Can follow structured teaching instructions and prepared materials.
- Are observant and can recognize when a learner is struggling or confused.
- Can adjust the way you explain something when necessary.
- Encourage learners rather than simply correcting every mistake.
- Are responsible, punctual, and dependable.
- Are willing to learn and receive feedback.
- Can use basic computers, online meeting platforms, and collaborative documents.
- Can work physically from the TELC office for all assigned teaching sessions.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or education is an advantage but not essential.

Formal teaching certification is welcome but not required.

A degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field is an advantage, but candidates from other educational backgrounds are also welcome to apply.

We also welcome candidates who have good English and strong communication skills but limited formal teaching experience.
