Laboratory Technician II
Role Purpose / Summary
Laboratory Technician II performs technical support activities for production and quality operations. The role requires strong knowledge in international standards for seamless pipes, including API 5CT, API 5CRA, API 5L, ASTM/ASME A106 and ASTM A333.
The position also supports the preparation of Process Control Lists, contributes to Quality Control Plan (QCP) development, analyzing Product Technical Querry according to mill feasibility approach, and ensures accurate documentation following ISO 9001 and API Q1 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Query Support
- Provide detailed input for analyzing product technical queries according to mill feasibility.
Process Control List (PCL) Maintenance
- Prepare, review, and update Process Control Lists for all manufacturing routes including standard specification and specific customer requirements.
- Ensure all control points, test sequences, procedure, requirement and acceptance criteria are correctly documented.
- Maintain version control and communicate updates.
Quality Control Plan (QCP) Support
- Assist in detailing manufacturing route, standard specification and specific requirements sections within QCPs.
- Ensure testing steps reflect the correct frequency, methods, and acceptance criteria.
- Provide feedback for continuous improvement of test-related procedures.
Documentation & Information Management
- Upload and maintain test results in the company's digital system (e.g., Tandem).
- Ensure proper documentation: heat/lot tracking, operator signatures, date/time logging.
- Support internal and external audits with accurate test records.
Standards Interpretation & Compliance
- Apply testing requirements from:
- API 5CT
- API 5CRA
- API 5L
- ASTM/ASME A106
- ASTM A333
- Implement testing steps as defined in customer specifications.
- Follow ISO 9001 and API Q1 principles in lab operations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor Engineering in major Metallurgy, Mechanical, Materials, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of hands-on laboratory testing experience.
- Familiarity with API 5CT standard specification is preferred.
- Familiarity with metallurgical testing equipment and procedures.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of API 5CT, ISO 9001 and API Q1 requirements related to testing and documentation.
- Strong computer skills and experience with LIMS or document-control systems.
