Job Description

Mission of the Role

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and maintaining all laboratory operations to ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable, and timely analytical services. This role oversees laboratory resources, technical competency, quality systems, and operational performance while ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, company standards, and client requirements.

The Laboratory Manager also plays a key role in laboratory development, method implementation, and continuous improvement to support business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all laboratory operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely analytical services.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory systems, procedures, and quality standards in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and company requirements.
  • Manage laboratory personnel by providing supervision, technical guidance, competency development, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment, facilities, and analytical methods are properly maintained, calibrated, and fit for operational use.
  • Monitor laboratory performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
  • Support laboratory establishment, expansion, and technical development, including method validation, workflow improvement, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with clients, operational teams, accreditation bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective laboratory support and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare laboratory performance reports and provide technical recommendations to Management.

Qualifications, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Environmental Science, or other related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory operations, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and laboratory quality management systems.
  • Proven experience in laboratory development, commissioning, establishment, or laboratory improvement projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Coal and Mineral laboratory operations is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and people management skills.
  • Good command of Bahasa Indonesia and English.
