Junior Mineral Resources Inventory Geologist

Purpose of the Role

To perform ore modeling and mineral resource estimation activities that support PTVI's Growth Plan and Life of Mine (LOM) strategy. The position ensures the accurate and timely delivery of the annual Mineral Resource & Mineral Reserve (MRMR) reporting, which serves as a cornerstone for PTVI's strategic planning and long-term decision-making. By aligning resource insights with the company's growth objectives, this role contributes to the sustainable development and optimization of PTVI's mineral assets.

Main Accountabilities.

1. Execute the validation process for all required supporting data in the mineral resource modeling workflow, ensuring data integrity and maintaining the quality of the resulting block model and resource estimation.
2. Perform mineral resource modeling activities as directed, contributing to the annual MRMR reporting and mineral resource studies, which form the foundation for mine production planning and the company's strategic growth initiatives.
3. Prepare technical reports documenting block modeling results and coordinate with peers for reviews to ensure a transparent, traceable process for audit compliance.
4. Support governance technical reports such as RKAB and Feasibility Studies as part of the corporate governance compliance process.
5. Carry out studies and designated processes to implement audit recommendations and improve the mineral resource estimation process, aligning with best practices and the outcomes of MRMR readiness assessments.
6. Maintain and manage PTVI's mineral resource and mineral reserve database, ensuring robust data security and improved accessibility to support operational and strategic geological needs.
7. Develop a solid understanding of the unique geological characteristics of each deposit within PTVI's endowment, applying this knowledge to support resource modeling, strategic growth planning, and decision-making processes.

Requirements

1. Minimum Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering (Geology).
2. At least 1 year of experience in laterite nickel or mineral deposit projects.
3. Preferred to have knowledge of geology and laterite nickel deposits, including related mineralogy, ore types, and their characteristics.
4. Capable of conducting geological correlation and interpretation to understand deposit variability.
5. Possess an understanding of geostatistics, including the ability to apply statistical methods for resource estimation, as well as knowledge of geological modeling and mineral resource estimation, including block modeling.
6. Understand exploration drilling processes, including core logging and sampling; knowledgeable in geological sampling methods and techniques to ensure accurate mineral quality analysis.
7. Familiar with mining software such as RES2DINV, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, Leapfrog, Snowden Supervisor, ArcGIS/QGIS, MapInfo, ER Mapper, and Surfer.
8. Possess an understanding of Python programming, including script development for data analysis, automation, and integration with geostatistical and modeling software.
9. Possess an understanding of technical reporting, particularly Internal Technical Reports, RKAB (Work Plan and Budget), Front-End Loading (FEL), and Feasibility Study reporting.
10. Knowledge of mine reconciliation is preferred.
11. Holding a POP (First-Line Operational Supervisor) certification is preferred.
