The Junior Legal Manager - Litigation plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's legal interests and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations within Indonesia's logistics and transportation industry. This role oversees all litigation matters - civil, criminal, labor, and administrative - while also providing strategic legal counsel to management and operational teams. The Junior Legal Manager - Litigation acts as the company's key representative in managing litigation and dispute resolutions, ensuring that potential legal risks are mitigated effectively and business operations remain legally sound.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation & Dispute Management
- Supervise and manage all litigation processes involving the company, including civil, criminal, labor, and administrative cases.
- Develop and execute legal strategies for each case, including risk analysis, exposure assessment, and recommendations for resolution.
- Coordinate with investigation teams, external law firms, notaries, and other legal consultants to ensure effective legal representation.
- Prepare, review, and verify litigation documents such as claims, defenses, replies, evidence, and monitor court schedules.
- Supervise and ensure proper execution of court decisions and related enforcement actions.
Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Provide internal legal advice to management and other departments regarding potential disputes, contractual obligations, and operational policies.
- Conduct preventive legal analysis to minimize risks associated with logistics operations, such as cargo loss, claims, damage, delays, or contractual breaches.
- Ensure the company's operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including transportation, customs, insurance, and consumer protection rules.
Contractual & Dispute Prevention
- Review commercial agreements, MoUs, and partnership contracts to protect the company's legal position.
- Identify and address potential disputes early, and manage non-litigation resolutions through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and mentor the internal legal team (litigation officers / paralegals), ensuring effective task allocation and skill development.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the Board of Directors, C-suite and VP of Legal & Compliance regarding ongoing litigation and legal risks.
- Maintain positive relationships with law enforcement agencies, government institutions, and industry regulators (e.g., Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, customs, and local authorities).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law from a reputable university; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Active PERADI license.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in litigation legal practice or legal in-house, with at least 23 years in a supervisory role.
- Prior experience in the logistics, transportation, e-commerce, or forwarding industry is highly desirable.
- Proven track record handling civil, criminal, and industrial relations (labor court) cases.
- Strong legal analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of Civil Code, Criminal Code, Consumer Protection Law, Labor Law, and logistics regulations.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously with clear prioritization and result orientation in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to coordinate across departments and lead a legal team effectively.
