IT Business Analyst (Contract-based)

What you'll do

The IT Business Analyst will serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. The role is responsible for understanding business needs, analyzing existing processes and systems, and translating requirements into clear, actionable functional and technical documentation.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and actively contribute to key digital and technology projects, ensuring that solutions are aligned with business objectives, user expectations, project timelines, and quality standards.

This role will be hired on a contract-basis under 3rd party vendor (extendable subject to performance review and business needs).

General Accountabilities:

1. Business Analysis and Requirements Management

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, operational challenges, user needs, and expected project outcomes.
• Facilitate requirement-gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process discussions.
• Analyze gaps between existing systems, business processes, and user requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear and structured functional requirements for developers, quality assurance teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specification Documents (FSD) User Requirement documents, System Design documents, process flows and UML diagrams, user stories and acceptance criteria, test scenarios and test scripts, and user manuals and training materials.
• Maintain requirement traceability and manage requirement changes throughout the project lifecycle.

2. Process and Solution Analysis

• Document current-state and future-state business processes.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or improve business processes.
• Analyze the impact of proposed technology solutions on business operations, data, users, and existing systems.
• Work with solution architects, developers, data teams, and vendors to evaluate solution options.
• Support the design of scalable and user-focused solutions across Digital, Data, and CRM initiatives.
• Ensure that proposed solutions address the agreed business requirements and expected business outcomes.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary communication bridge between business and technical teams.
• Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across IT, business functions, data teams, vendors, and project teams.
• Facilitate discussions to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and manage conflicting stakeholder priorities.
• Communicate complex technical concepts in clear business language.
• Manage stakeholder expectations by providing transparent updates on requirements, dependencies, risks, issues, and decisions.
• Support alignment and decision-making in situations where requirements are incomplete, changing, or ambiguous.

4. Testing and Quality Assurance

• Develop or review test scenarios, test cases, and expected results based on approved requirements.
• Coordinate and support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Production Acceptance Testing (PAT), where applicable.
• Perform functional, integration, API, and database validation as required.
• Document defects clearly and coordinate with development teams to support timely resolution.
• Verify that resolved defects and delivered enhancements meet the agreed requirements.
• Support business users during UAT and obtain appropriate approval before deployment.
• Participate in solution demonstrations and readiness reviews before production launch.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting

• Use data and system information to support requirement analysis, issue investigation, and business decision-making.
• Perform basic to intermediate SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and testing.
• Collaborate with data owners and technical teams to investigate data-quality issues.
• Support the definition of data requirements, business rules, mappings, and validation criteria.
• Prepare concise reports, dashboards, or presentations to communicate findings and project status.
• Support data-related initiatives using tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, or other relevant platforms.

6. Project Delivery Support

• Work closely with project managers and delivery teams to define activities, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Monitor requirement-related actions and support delivery against agreed timelines and objectives.
• Prioritize tasks across multiple initiatives based on business urgency, impact, dependencies, and available resources.
• Identify and escalate project risks, requirement gaps, scope issues, and delivery blockers.
• Support project governance activities, status reporting, and decision tracking.
• Contribute to solution implementation, business readiness, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Provide knowledge transfer, user guidance, and training when required.

Essential for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-4 years of relevant experience as an IT Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Digital Business Analyst, or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing business and system requirements.
• Experience producing BRDs, FSDs, user requirements, process flows, user stories, test cases, or comparable project documentation.
• Practical experience coordinating or executing SIT and UAT.
• Experience working with developers, quality assurance teams, business users, vendors, and project managers.
• Ability to analyze business processes, identify gaps, and recommend practical technology-enabled improvements.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data validation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Desirable for the role

• Experience supporting Digital, Data, or CRM projects.
• Exposure to pharmaceutical, healthcare, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Experience with system integration, APIs, ERP, CRM, data platforms, or reporting solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Experience supporting systems from requirements gathering through testing, deployment, and post-launch stabilization.
• Experience collaborating with regional or global teams is an advantage.
