About the Opportunity

We are representing our client, a global leader in Waste-to-Energy (WtE), waste incineration technology, and low-carbon environmental infrastructure development. The company operates large-scale Waste-to-Energy plants and eco-industrial park projects internationally, with strong expertise in municipal solid waste processing, green power generation, and sustainable environmental solutions.

As part of its strategic expansion in Indonesia, the company is seeking an experienced Investment Director to support market development, strategic partnerships, project origination, and infrastructure expansion within the Waste-to-Energy sector.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Business Development
  • Lead Indonesia market expansion initiatives within the Waste-to-Energy and environmental infrastructure sector.
  • Identify, originate, and develop new investment opportunities related to municipal solid waste processing, waste incineration, RDF, biomass-to-energy, eco-industrial parks, and low-carbon infrastructure.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with government agencies, local authorities, SOEs, investors, EPC companies, and industrial partners.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to support long-term business growth and project pipeline development.

Project Development & Investment
  • Support project origination activities including feasibility studies, commercial evaluation, investment analysis, and project bankability assessment.
  • Coordinate project development activities across technical, commercial, financial, legal, and regulatory functions.
  • Participate in concession discussions, PPP initiatives, and project tender processes.
  • Lead or support investment structuring, partnership negotiations, and strategic commercial discussions.

Government & Regulatory Engagement
  • Engage with ministries, regulators, PLN, BKPM, KLHK, MEMR, regional governments, and related institutions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to waste management, renewable energy, environmental infrastructure, and carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Support permitting, regulatory alignment, and policy engagement activities.

Market Intelligence & Representation
  • Conduct market analysis and competitor mapping within Indonesia's Waste-to-Energy and environmental infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Represent the company in strategic meetings, conferences, industry forums, and government engagements.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations regarding Indonesia market opportunities, investment risks, and partnership potential.

Candidate Requirements Mandatory Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy, Business, Economics, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience.
  • Direct experience within the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) industry is mandatory.
  • Strong exposure to municipal solid waste (MSW), waste incineration, RDF, biomass-to-energy, waste management infrastructure, or low-carbon industrial projects.
  • Proven experience handling government relations and regulatory engagement within Indonesia.
  • Strong understanding of Indonesia's waste management, environmental, and renewable energy regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience supporting project development, infrastructure investment, or project commercialization activities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Waste-to-Energy operators, environmental infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, or international clean energy companies.
  • Existing network across government, regional governments, and environmental agencies.
  • Exposure to PPP infrastructure projects, carbon reduction initiatives, or circular economy programs.
  • Experience engaging international investors, DFIs, or multinational stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of project finance, investment bankability, and infrastructure development lifecycle.
