Information Technology Infrastructure Specialist

Responsibilities:

Conduct daily monitoring of server health, performance, storage systems, and backup job status.

Manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and routers, to ensure optimal uptime.

Handle Level 2 incidents and service requests, providing technical support and troubleshooting for end-users.

Provision and maintain both physical and virtual servers, overseeing configuration and lifecycle management.

Execute OS patching and security updates according to established schedules and compliance standards.

Implement system hardening and ensure all infrastructure adheres to internal security policies and controls.

Troubleshoot LAN/WAN and internet connectivity, including the review of routing, switching, VLAN, NAT, and firewall rules.

Coordinate with external vendors or Group IT for escalated technical issues and periodic access reviews.

Manage backup and restore operations, including handling job failures, rerunning tasks, and managing off-site tape vaulting.

Maintain technical documentation, such as SOPs, inventory lists, and network diagrams.

Prepare compliance reports for audits and management reviews to ensure operational standards are met.

Support IT infrastructure projects, including hardware refreshes, alignment initiatives, and system migrations.

Automate routine tasks and configuration management using Ansible to improve operational efficiency.

Administer SAN/NAS storage systems and enterprise backup solutions like NetBackup.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, VMware (VCA/VCP), or Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE) are highly preferred.

35 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations, system administration, or network administration.

Proven track record handling daily BAU operations within an enterprise-level environment.

Strong proficiency in Windows and Red Hat Server administration and virtualized environments (VMware ESXi, vCenter).

Hands-on experience with Ansible for patching, configuration, and automation of administrative tasks.

Technical expertise in networking, specifically with firewall rules, VLAN, NAT, and site-to-site connectivity.

Experience with enterprise backup tools (e.g., NetBackup) and the ability to perform complex data restorations.

Familiarity with ITIL processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying root causes of recurring technical issues.

Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams and third-party vendors.

High attention to detail regarding documentation, audit requirements, and internal controls.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
