About the Role

The Business Times (BT) Global, the regional platform for Singapore's premier business media, is seeking an experienced business journalist who will play a key role in shaping our coverage of Indonesia.

We are looking for a candidate with deep knowledge of the business landscape in Indonesia/Asean, strong network of contacts and a proven track record. Experience writing for a regional or international publication is an advantage.

The successful candidate will be based in Jakarta for a term of up to 3 years, and will work closely with the BT Global team in Singapore. Candidates residing in Singapore will be posted to Jakarta to perform this role.

BT Global distinguishes itself by reporting through a distinctly South-east Asian lens, delivering first-hand reporting, sharp analysis and deep context on issues shaping the region and the wider world. Our coverage is anchored on BT's trusted voice, editorial standards, and our expanding network of correspondents across Asean and Asia.

As Indonesia Correspondent, you will be writing for a growing regional and global audience. Your reporting will sit at the crossroads of economics, business, policy and geopolitics.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver major spot news, exclusive interviews with key corporate leaders and decision makers, enterprise stories and deep-dive analyses on major economic, policy and corporate developments in Indonesia
  • Report from a regional lens. Provide timely, accurate, well-sourced reporting that connects local developments to regional and global shifts
  • Contribute and/or coordinate story packages that involve inputs from correspondents based in different Asean countries
  • Report and produce content across platforms, including text, video, podcasts, visual explainers and infographics.
  • Build strong networks across government, business, finance and industry
  • Self-starter who is motivated to do what it takes to deliver meaningful, positive outcomes

Job Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in business, financial or economic reporting (or relevant professional background
  • Excellent news judgment
  • Relevant degree in Communications, New Media, Business, Finance, Journalism or any relevant fields
  • Knowledge of the local language will be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-border editorial team
  • Comfortable producing quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Multimedia or multi-platform reporting skills are an advantage
