Role Description: Operating under the direction of the Business Development Manager (Southeast Asia & Onshore), the In-Country Representative – Southeast Asia (based in Indonesia) plays a key role in advancing University of Canberra's student recruitment and market development objectives across Indonesia, one of the University's priority markets. This position is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with government agencies, scholarship bodies, higher education institutions, schools, and education agents to strengthen the University's presence in Indonesia and create sustainable student recruitment pathways. A key focus of the position is identifying and developing partnership opportunities that support recruitment growth through scholarship programs, institutional collaborations, and other strategic initiatives. As the University's in-country representative, the position supports recruitment, partnership, and stakeholder engagement activities across Indonesia, including agent management, event participation, and student conversion initiatives.
- Primary Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including education agents, institutional partners, government agencies, industry peak bodies, schools, and other channel partners.
- Identify, develop, and manage partnerships with government bodies and scholarship providers to increase opportunities for scholarship-funded Indonesian students to study at UC.
- Drive targeted engagement activities across Indonesia to strengthen brand awareness and generate student recruitment opportunities through partnerships with schools, universities ,government bodies, and education agents, as well as participation in education fairs and other recruitment-focused events.
- Act as the key in-market representative, ensuring consistent engagement and alignment with UC's strategic objectives.
- Support student attraction, conversion, and retention, contributing to the University of Canberra's value proposition and student experience.
- Provide comprehensive support and advice to prospective students seeking to study at the University of Canberra.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge of appointed agents through regular training and engagement activities.
- Remain updated on shifts and advancements within the Indonesian education sector, offering valuable insights to refine recruitment strategies effectively.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and provide necessary support to achieve quality conversions.
- Ensure all services are provided in compliance with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act and any other relevant Australian laws.
- Undertake travel throughout Indonesia and internationally as required to support business development, partnership, and recruitment activities.
Selection Criteria and Qualifications
- Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Tertiary qualifications with at least five years experience in international education, student recruitment, or partnership development.
- Demonstrated experience delivering student recruitment outcomes and implementing strategies to achieve enrolment targets.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships across education agents, institutional partners, government bodies, schools, and other key education sector stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, managing priorities, multiple projects, and tight deadlines.
- Flexibility in work approach, including willingness to work outside normal office hours to support recruitment activities both locally and internationally.
- Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel locally and internationally.
- Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and strong English communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer-based systems, including spreadsheets, databases, and CRM tools.
Desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of the Australian international education environment, including student visa regulations, ESOS Act and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
