Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Expert Hydraulic is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and optimizing the commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification of hydraulic systems across the OKI 3 Paper production facilities. The role ensures all hydraulic equipment and systems are commissioned safely, operate according to design specifications, and are fully integrated with mechanical, electrical, automation, and process systems prior to plant start-up and commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute hydraulic commissioning procedures, inspection checklists, and test protocols.
  • Supervise pre-commissioning activities including hydraulic flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, oil filling, filtration, and system integrity verification.
  • Verify installation quality of hydraulic piping, manifolds, cylinders, pumps, motors, accumulators, valves, hoses, and hydraulic power units (HPUs).
  • Coordinate functional testing of hydraulic systems associated with paper machines, stock preparation, finishing equipment, conveyors, cranes, and auxiliary systems.
  • Perform pressure, flow, leakage, and performance testing to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and vendor requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic equipment failures, abnormal pressures, flow instability, leakage, overheating, vibration, and control issues during commissioning.
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Process, and Operations teams to achieve integrated system commissioning.
  • Support loop checks, interlock verification, emergency shutdown (ESD) testing, and equipment protection logic involving hydraulic systems.
  • Review hydraulic drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, vendor manuals, and technical documentation to validate commissioning readiness.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers and OEM specialists during testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Monitor hydraulic oil cleanliness and ensure compliance with required ISO cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure hydraulic systems meet operational reliability, safety, and performance requirements before handover.
  • Participate in SAT (Site Acceptance Test), performance tests, reliability runs, and plant start-up activities.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, punch lists, defect logs, completion certificates, and system handover documentation.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project HSE requirements, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to commissioning engineers and maintenance personnel on hydraulic system operation and maintenance.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for hydraulic system failures encountered during commissioning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in hydraulic systems within pulp and paper, petrochemical, power generation, heavy industry, or large industrial projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in commissioning large-scale industrial facilities.
  • Experience with paper machine hydraulic systems is highly preferred.
  • A contract-based during project phase, with a high chance of permanent during operation & maintenance phase.
  • Willing to be placed in OKI, South Sumatra.
