Head of Operations

This is a full-time, in-person position located in Jakarta.

Recoolit is an American climate tech startup on a mission to prevent 1 billion tCO2e of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Since launching operations in Indonesia in 2021, we've prevented over 30,000 tCO2e of emissions and secured a multi-year contract to sell carbon credits to Google. 

Our fully traceable carbon credit platform targets superpollutants: refrigerant gases used in air conditioning and refrigeration that are thousands of times more potent than CO2 when released into the atmosphere. We partner with Indonesia's largest companies to capture and properly dispose of these gases, and we are backed by veteran Silicon Valley investors.

This role leads all of Recoolit's operations within Indonesia, under our subsidiary PT Recoolit Bumi Lestari. We are growing rapidly and require a hands-on leader with deep operational experience to help us scale our operations, including logistics, which involve: procuring and maintaining a fleet of refrigerant-recovery equipment, dispatching it on-demand to partner sites, training partners and supporting their refrigerant operations, and operating a central warehouse plus regional depots where refrigerant gas is stored and handled. 

You will take over and scale our existing five-person operations team into a safe, reliable, data-driven function capable of supporting Recoolit's expansion across Indonesia, measured through equipment uptime, on-time dispatch, inventory accuracy, partner satisfaction, safety performance, and cost efficiency. You will fully lead this operation, reporting directly to the COO.

This is a full-time, in-person position located at our office walking distance from the Bendungan Hilir MRT station. You will be expected to visit Recoolit's main warehouse in Cakung as needed, approximately 3-4 days per month. Some travel outside of Jakarta will be required to help set up and oversee our geographic expansion.

1. Own Recoolit's operations end-to-end, including:
2. Equipment availability, maintenance, and inventory
3. Dispatch performance and partner service levels
4. Warehouse/depot operations, storage capacity, and regulatory compliance
5. Sampling, laboratory testing, and destruction planning and vendor coordination, adapting plans and SOPs as new issues and lessons emerge
6. Vendors, budgets, procurement, operational costs, and expansion into new cities
7. On-site project readiness, technical support arrangements, and fulfillment of operational data and documentation requirements
8. Operational data quality and traceability
9. Hire and manage a growing operations team, which includes warehouse and field staff, control-tower/dispatch personnel, and technical operations specialists.
10. Supervise and advise the Control Tower function, which owns daily project coordination, scheduling and follow-up. Resolve escalated issues and resource conflicts, and build clear decision rules, handovers and backup coverage.
11. Lead Recoolit's HSE program, promoting and implementing a culture of safety with associated best practices.
12. Ensure efficiency: assess gaps, then suggest, create and implement SOPs for our operations as necessary. Translate recurring operational problems into proposed process improvements and features for our internal tooling.
13. Manage to metrics: we are a data-driven company, and you will define KPIs for your team and use them to assess the success of our operations. 
14. Get up to speed quickly on refrigerant-specific best practices and be able to review the work of our technical operations specialists. 

1. 7+ years of experience in logistics, field operations, warehousing, or supply-chain operations, including 3+ years managing a multidisciplinary team.
2. You are an excellent and clear communicator, written and verbal, in both English and Indonesian.
3. You are comfortable working in a digital-first environment where rigorous tracking, data quality, and consistent process are the keys to success. You are organized, comfortable with modern digital tools, and able to quickly learn new skills.
4. You are a hands-on leader who wants to understand the details of the work.
5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve complex problems quickly and thoroughly in a dynamic environment.

8. Preferred qualifications:
9. Experience with pressurized gases or dangerous goods handling and transport, and familiarity with Indonesian safety frameworks (SMK3, K3 certification).
10. Technical background in engineering or physical sciences (examples: mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics). 
11. Relevant industry experience (eg industrial services, field services, facilities management, or HVAC), particularly with equipment fleets, maintenance coordination or distributed depots.
