About Our Client
Our client is a leading, diversified conglomerate group with significant investments across multiple business sectors. As part of a confidential search, they are seeking a Head of Legal to provide strategic legal leadership and act as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors and senior management.
This is a group-level role with broad exposure across multi-business operations, with a strong emphasis on permit and asset management, complex stakeholder management, and high-impact legal decision-making.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary legal advisor to the Board of Directors and senior leadership on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and strategic matters.
- Provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to support group-wide initiatives across multiple business lines.
- Review, draft, and negotiate complex and high-value commercial agreements.
- Advise on land-related matters including land clearing, land rights, licensing, and regulatory approvals, particularly for real estate and asset-heavy businesses.
- Oversee corporate governance matters, including board and shareholder documentation, resolutions, and group-level corporate actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal governance frameworks across the group.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess legal and business impact across diversified operations.
- Lead end-to-end contract lifecycle management across the group.
- Develop and maintain standard legal templates, clauses, and contract playbooks.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks arising from contractual, operational, and investment activities.
- Oversee dispute resolution matters, including commercial, land, regulatory, and stakeholder-related disputes.
- Manage dispute strategy, including pre-litigation assessment, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation oversight.
- Coordinate and manage external counsel to ensure effective dispute handling, risk containment, and cost efficiency.
- Act as a strategic legal partner to senior stakeholders across Finance, Investment, Asset Management, Real Estate, Procurement, HR, and other key functions.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and influence across complex, multi-entity organizations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop internal legal resources (where applicable).
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel, regulators, notaries, and advisors.
The Successful Applicant
- Law degree from a reputable university; qualified to practice law in Indonesia.
- No less than 15+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally within conglomerates, holding companies, or multi-business groups.
- Mandatory exposure to real estate and asset management, including land, licensing, and asset-related legal matters.
- Strong experience in corporate, commercial, regulatory, and dispute resolution matters.
- Proven track record of handling high-stakes disputes and managing external counsel strategically.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence Board and C-level stakeholders.
- Strong leadership capability with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Mandarin proficiency is a strong advantage.
- Commercially astute, resilient, and able to operate effectively in a high-sensitivity, fast-paced environment.
