Government Relation Manager (Port/Maritime)

Adecco Indonesia is currently representing a leading company in the Natural Resources sector that is seeking an experienced Government Relations Manager to join its team in Jakarta.

About the Role

This is a strategic role for a professional who can effectively bridge business operations and external stakeholder management, particularly within the port, maritime, and regulatory environment. The successful candidate will understand how operations work on the ground while also being able to navigate complex government regulations, maintain strong relationships with regulators, and drive practical solutions for the business.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between the company and relevant government agencies, regulators, industry associations, and external stakeholders.
• Monitor, interpret, and advise the business on regulatory developments affecting port, maritime, logistics, and natural resources operations.
• Support operational teams by proactively addressing regulatory challenges and facilitating issue resolution with relevant authorities.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with government institutions at both national and regional levels.
• Lead negotiations and discussions with regulators to support business continuity and operational efficiency.
• Provide strategic recommendations on regulatory risks, compliance matters, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Collaborate closely with operational, legal, compliance, and commercial teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Drive advocacy efforts and contribute to the company's external affairs strategy.
• Identify opportunities to improve business outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement and creative problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law, Political Science, Public Policy, Maritime Studies, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Required Skills

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Government Relations, External Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs, or a related function.
• Strong understanding of Indonesia's regulatory environment, particularly within the natural resources, maritime, port, logistics, mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
• Hands-on exposure to operational environments and a solid understanding of how port and maritime operations function.
• Proven experience engaging with government agencies, regulators, and public sector stakeholders.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Commercially minded with the ability to balance regulatory requirements and business priorities.
• A solutions-oriented professional with resilience, adaptability, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex situations and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
