Position Overview
The Government Relations Senior Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening strategic relationships between Meratus Group and government institutions to support business continuity, regulatory compliance, and corporate growth. The role serves as the primary liaison between the Company and key government stakeholders, while coordinating government-related matters across all business units and branch offices.
This position provides strategic advice to management regarding government policies, regulatory developments, licensing matters, and public sector engagement that may impact Meratus Group's operations. This position will be placed in
Jakarta.
Key Responsibilities
Government Stakeholder Management
- Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with central and regional government institutions.
- Represent Meratus Group in meetings, forums, and discussions with government agencies.
- Develop engagement strategies to enhance the Company's reputation and credibility with government stakeholders.
- Act as the primary corporate contact for government-related matters.
Regulatory Monitoring & Policy Advocacy
- Monitor changes in government regulations, policies, and legislation affecting shipping, logistics, ports, terminals, and related businesses.
- Analyze regulatory impacts and provide recommendations to management.
- Coordinate company responses to new regulations and government initiatives.
- Support management in policy advocacy and industry discussions through associations and government forums.
Government Liaison & Coordination
- Coordinate government-related activities across all Business Units and branch offices.
- Provide guidance to Business Unit Heads and Branch Managers regarding government engagement strategies.
- Facilitate communication between operational teams and government authorities when required.
- Ensure consistency in government communication throughout the organization.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with, including but not limited to Ministries of Transportation : Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Port Authorities, Harbormaster Offices, other relevant transportation agencies.
Strategic Support for Business Operations
- Support strategic projects requiring government approvals, permits, or coordination.
- Assist business units in resolving regulatory or government-related issues.
- Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Commercial, and HSE functions on matters involving government authorities.
- Support expansion projects involving new routes, terminals, depots, and operational facilities.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare executive reports on government engagement activities.
- Update management on significant regulatory developments.
- Maintain records of government meetings, correspondence, and follow-up actions.
- Prepare briefing materials for executive meetings with government officials.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Law, Political Science, International Relations, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Government Relations, External Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, or Corporate Affairs.
- Experience within shipping, logistics, ports, maritime, transportation, infrastructure, or related industries is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with senior government officials and regulators.
- Strong understanding of Indonesian government structure and regulatory processes.
