Role DescriptionThis is a part-time role for a Gas Safety Inspector Trainer (Instructor). The trainer is responsible for preparing, delivering, and continuously improving gas safety training programs aimed at developing competent Gas Safety Inspectors in accordance with applicable regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
Training coverage includes:
- Fundamentals of gas safety and gas hazard identification
- Gas systems and installations (distribution, transmission, and utilization)
- Gas piping systems, pressure systems, valves, and safety devices
- Gas safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments
- Applicable gas safety regulations, standards, and codes (national and international)
- Incident prevention, risk assessment, and emergency response related to gas systems
- Inspection reporting, non-conformity management, and corrective actions
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and updating training materials, delivering classroom, virtual, or on-site training sessions, explaining technical and regulatory requirements in a clear and practical manner, conducting assessments (theory and practical), evaluating participant competence, and providing constructive feedback.
The trainer will work closely with the technical and training development teams to ensure all training content aligns with the latest regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
Qualifications- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in gas engineering, gas safety, gas inspection, or gas operations within the energy, oil & gas, utility, or industrial sectors
- Proven experience as a Gas Safety Inspector, Gas Engineer, or Gas Safety Auditor
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical training, professional instruction, or competency-based training programs
- Strong understanding of gas safety regulations, pressure systems, and hazard control
- Ability to explain complex technical and regulatory concepts in a structured, practical, and engaging manner
- Experience in conducting knowledge assessments and practical competency evaluations
- Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills in English (additional languages are an advantage)
- Comfortable using online learning platforms, virtual classrooms, or hybrid training environments
Education & Certification- Bachelor's degree in Gas Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Relevant certifications are highly preferred, including but not limited to:
- Gas Safety Inspector / Gas Engineer Certification
- Pressure Equipment or Process Safety Certification
- HSE, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certifications
- Trainer / Assessor certification (TOT, BNSP Assessor, or equivalent) is an advantage
