About Us
At Solira, we believe children learn best when they're not aware they're learning something important. Our classes are quietly built around one idea: raising kids who care about the environment around them, simply because it's part of how they've always played and learned. We're now launching a dedicated English program with the same philosophy, and hiring our first freelance English teacher(s) to lead it.
The Role You'll lead small-group English classes (max 8–10 children), run as a standalone program with its own curriculum, for one or both of our two tracks:
- Little Sprouts (3–6 yrs) — play-based, sensory-driven English through songs, puppet stories and craft
- Young Changemakers (7–10 yrs) — speaking, simple reading/writing and short group projects (posters, mini-books, skits)
What You'll Do
- Deliver weekly lessons and create the class materials following our theme-based curriculum (nature, food, water, community — CLIL-style, English-first)
- Adapt activities on the fly to keep 3–10 year-olds engaged and speaking
- Use recycled/natural materials for crafts and props as part of our sustainability-first classroom practice
- Track simple progress notes per child (no formal testing — portfolio and can-do checklists only)
- Join a short termly Discovery Week showcase where children present what they've learned to parents
What We're Looking For
- Experience teaching English to young learners (TEFL/TESOL, early childhood education, or equivalent classroom experience)
- Comfortable with a play-based, low-pressure teaching style — this is not exam-prep English
- Warm, patient, high-energy presence with young children
- Bilingual (Indonesian/English) preferred, especially for the 3–6 age group, so instructions are always understood
- Based in or able to reliably commute to South Jakarta (Pakubuwono area)
- Available for a consistent weekly time slot (day/time flexible, to be agreed)
Nice to Have
- Background or interest in environmental education, sustainability, or nature-based learning
- Experience with sensory play, arts-and-craft facilitation, or Montessori/Reggio-style approaches
- Portfolio, demo video, or references from prior young-learner teaching
