Position Overview
The Fleet Management Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end performance and operations of the company's driver workforce. This role ensures optimal driver availability, high-quality service standards, and smooth last-mile and delivery operations. This position will lead initiatives related to recruitment, training, scheduling, performance monitoring, and compliance to support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Driver Operations & Performance Management
- Oversee daily driver operations to ensure delivery targets and service levels are met.
- Monitor driver productivity, on-time performance, and service quality across regions.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions when necessary.
- Manage route optimization and adjust driver allocation based on volume, demand, and operational needs.
2. Courier Management
- Coordinate with HR and Operations to forecast courier manpower needs.
- Develop and oversee onboarding programs, safety training, and refresher sessions for drivers.
- Ensure all couriers meet company standards and operational readiness.
3. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all drivers adhere to company policies, SOPs, and safety regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date records of driver licenses, training, attendance, and compliance reports.
- Handle incident management, including accidents, delivery issues, and customer complaints.
- Collaborate with Safety teams to continuously improve risk mitigation initiatives.
4. Scheduling & Workforce Planning
- Develop efficient driver schedules, route assignments, and shift planning.
- Adjust manpower allocation based on operational fluctuations, peak seasons, or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate daily and weekly driver deployment reports.
5. Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Warehouse, Fleet, Customer Service, and Operations teams to ensure smooth delivery execution.
- Provide regular updates, reports, and insights to management on driver KPIs and operational performance.
- Support cross-functional initiatives related to cost optimization, customer experience, and operational improvement.
6. Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Identify operational gaps and propose improvements in driver workflow, tracking systems, and productivity tools.
- Implement performance incentive programs, SOP enhancements, and new technologies to improve delivery efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to reduce cost-per-delivery and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum 57 years of experience in driver or fleet operations, including 2+ years in a managerial role.
- Strong understanding of last-mile delivery, transportation management, and workforce operations.
- Proven experience handling large driver teams (both in-house and outsourced).
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Familiarity with driver tracking systems, route optimization tools, and operational dashboards is a plus.
