VAIA IS HIRING — FASHION DESIGNER LEAD
We're looking for a creative and strategic Lead Fashion Designer to help shape the future of VAIA based in East Jakarta, across apparel, footwear, and accessories. This is a leadership role for someone who doesn't just design beautifully, but thinks in terms of brand identity, collection strategy, and team direction. REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or related field
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in fashion design, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or senior design role
- Proven experience designing across apparel, footwear, and/or accessories; footwear and accessories experience is a strong plus
- A strong, well-defined point of view on aesthetics able to distinguish trends worth adopting from passing hype
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a design team, delegate effectively, and give constructive creative feedback
- Strong ability in conceptualizing ideas: concept board / moodboard / fashion styling for campaigns & photoshoots
- Exceptional eye for aesthetic detail, proportion, and visual storytelling
- Strategic thinker who can translate global trends and market insight into commercially viable, brand-aligned collections
- Able to multitask, highly communicative, and comfortable working cross-functionally with production, sourcing, and marketing teams
- Proactive, organized, and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant design tools (CLO3D is a plus)
- Solid understanding of material selection, sourcing, and garment construction
- Pattern making skill is a strong plus
- Willing to take ownership of challenges and drive projects independently
- Able to start immediately
- Willing to be placed in East Jakarta
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner closely with the Creative Director to define and execute the design vision for VAIA's collections: apparel, shoes, bags, and other fashion items
- Lead, mentor, and guide junior and mid-level designers, reviewing their work and helping them grow
- Conduct research to explore new trends in materials, fabrics, colors, shapes, and techniques — and filter them through VAIA's brand DNA
- Build and present creative concepts: storylines, moodboards, color palettes for upcoming collections
- Design products based on VAIA's brand identity and market positioning, aligned with seasonal trends
- Prepare detailed sample sheets, including materials, colors, and construction notes
- Create and oversee accurate technical drawings for approved designs
- Collaborate with developers for prototype creation, sampling, and iteration
- Monitor and coordinate production timelines across the team to meet quality and delivery targets
- Own and manage the full design process end-to-end, from ideation to production
- Revise and improve samples to reach the best possible version for mass production
- Lead quality control efforts by screening and reviewing final products before release
- Drive brainstorming sessions, present design ideas, and champion improvements across the team
- Revise and update existing designs based on customer feedback or shifts in direction
- Contribute to product development roadmap and seasonal planning alongside the Creative Director
