Environmental Specialist (Mandarin Speaker)

Key Responsibilities

• Environmental Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the full lifecycle of plant environmental permits (AMDAL, UKL, UPL, SPPL) to match risk classifications, operate the OSS system for applications and annual compliance reporting, and continuously interpret evolving central/regional regulations (especially from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry) into executable internal policies.
• Integrated Three Wastes Management and Facility Oversight: Manage wastewater by supervising WWTP operations and discharge/abstraction permits, monitor air pollution control systems to keep emissions (particulates, VOCs) within legal limits, and maintain cradle-tograve tracking for solid and hazardous (B3) waste segregation, storage, transport, and disposal.
• Environmental Risk Prevention and Crisis Readiness: Identify environmental aspects and risks to implement control measures for significant sources, develop and regularly update the emergency response plan while conducting cross-departmental drills, and lead onsite containment, investigations, corrective actions, and government reporting during actual environmental incidents.
• Monitoring Programs, Data Integrity, and Regulatory Reporting: Execute an annual monitoring schedule using labs or inline sensors for water, air, noise, and waste, maintain digital records for all statutory monthly/quarterly/annual submissions, and collaborate with QC to verify export product compliance with RSL/MRSL requirements.
• Energy Consumption Optimization and Carbon Management: Establish an energy consumption database to pinpoint highusage areas and drive efficiency upgrades, calculate the annual GHG inventory to support carbon neutrality goals, and lead sustainability certifications such as Green Factory or Cleaner Production audits.
• Workforce Training and External Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct regular environmental training for Indonesian staff to raise regulatory awareness, serve as the primary liaison for community and NGO inquiries/complaints, and support internal/external ISO 14001 audits with headquarters and third-party bodies.
• Project Phase Support (New Construction and Major Modifications): Engage in EIA processes for new or major modification projects to enforce the Three Simultaneities principle.

Qualifications

• Hold a fulltime bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Bring at least 3 years of manufacturing environmental management experience (preferably in metallurgy, chemicals, pulp/paper, or power), with a strong preference for handson Indonesian factory exposure and prior involvement in new build/expansi on Three Simultaneities projects.
• Possess mandatory Ahli K3 Muda Lingkungan Kerja and Limbah B3 certifications, deep knowledge of Indonesia's PP No. 5/2021 regulatory framework, working ISO 14001 knowledge (auditor cert a plus), and strong data analysis capabilities using standard office software.
• Demonstrate fluency in Chinese and English (written/spoken) with basic Bahasa Indonesia preferred, alongside excellent crosscultural communication, problem-solving, resilience, and a principled approach to balancing strict compliance with production efficiency.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Willing to work at a remote site with a roster system.
